Y'all keep in mind that I'm new here but I find it kind of strange that so many here seem so concerned about what our uniforms and helmets look like. Am I the only one around who really does not care what our uniforms look like? They could wear pink as long as we are winning, as far as I'm concerned. Just an observation, not hating. I just find it strange and somewhat humorous that grown men are on a sports message board discussin fashion. Carry on

you are just the latest version of that one guy that says this in every uniform thread. Congrats though, you actually started a thread about it instead of just posting it in an existing thread about it.

My thing is, I don't place a high level of importance on what our uniforms look like. I'm more concerned with the way we play the game. If you want to change, that's fine; if you want to wear the same for 50 years, that's fine. I just don't think it's that big of deal and this place seems consumed with at times

No, I don't really care, but there is a group on here that does, so just give e'm some space. It matters to them.
It's just not a big deal,... worry about something else.

There' been a lot of talk about it this week for several reasons.

* It's slow....we're not playing football, not a lot of basketball yet, we've wrapped up most recruiting
* More people than ever are aware of how uniforms can appeal to recruits
* ChillbillyDawg has been throwing out some pretty good ideas that have gotten noticed by the AD

Nothing wrong with your opinion. People have gotten flamed for voicing that same opinion in every single uniform thread, but it doesn't seem like you're gonna do that.

Sure i understand it's fair game on this board, but I, just me personally, don't get it

Right on. I just wanna win. If cool uniforms helps sway recruits, and thus helps us win games, then by all means do what ya gotta do.

The only schools not doing this are the bamas, notre dames, Penn states, etc of college football. They have better tradition than most schools in football and have basically always worn the same jersey with maybe slight variations. I think we have no choice but to get creative with our unis bc everybody else that lacks that bama like tradition is doing it,thanks Oregon, and we don't need to be left behind. So why not try to make them look bad ***, which is exactly what chillbilly is doing. I've been a state fan since the Jackie years and weve had completely different jerseys in all three coaching eras I've witnessed, so what's the big deal? A little grey and black? Yall must be angry old men who can't get it up anymore and ***** about everything.

The Black Bears haven't succumbed to the pressure for "bad ***" uniforms yet to the best of my knowledge.<div>
</div><div>And yes, I suppose during the Sherrill years we had different uniforms several times ... but the point is you couldn't really tell the difference from the stands ... they were still the basic maroon and white with a few detail variations.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm not crazy about the new trend toward "bad ***" uniforms ... they look kinda thuggish to me and not "sophisticated". That said, I wouldn't be averse to silver pants with maroon jerseys of the traditional type. I think that would look good. And combine that with some Oregonian-style maroon mirror helmets and you'd have a great looking, modern uniform. But use black shoes ... the crazy yellows and greens you see are a bit much. And I've never liked single color jersey/pants combinations, whether it be all maroon or all white (or silver, in the poster's case).</div><div>
</div><div>Yes, I'm old fashioned.

It definitely doesn't need to be overdone, but I think we need to keep up with the trend to some degree. About the Ole Miss part, they're still stuck in the 50's or whenever it was they were good. They did rock the all grey this year though, and didn't LSU sport an all white look this year or last year?

The only time I equate a uniform to thug quality is when I see teams with the history that the Oakland Raiders had. That's not so much how their uniforms looked, but how their players performed in them. I've heard a couple of people say that before and I honestly don't get the equation.
