***Uniform Post****

Just wanted to note that I still think the unis look great. The helmet is definitely the least appealing part of it (the M-State just isnt set-off enough - I still recommend a thin maroon line between the white and silver on the M-State), but they still look better than the Croom helmets.

Another thing I liked were the silver/gray base-layers that a lot of the guys are wearing. It looks awesome with those silver accents on the numbers/name. Looks a lot better than that nike shat with all the scales, dots, etc.

For the kickers out there (read Dawgstudent), the white boots Brauchle and Hutchins were wearing were awesome. Too bad those boots don't aid in distance or accuracy (although I though Hutchins looked VERY good compared to last year).

Finally re: the Boise State unis last night. That gray uniform was awesome (just the color - not the bronco on the shoulder, etc.) - I would much rather see us do gray uniforms just like that with maroon numbers for our "special uniform game of the year" rather than black. Gray with maroon and maroon pants would look SICK.

and I think TCU did at some point last year - paint the helmet with a matte finish instead of the glossy. I like the looks of the TCU helmets a lot.

eta: Now that I think about it, the TCU uniforms & helmets were part of the new Nike tech stuff, so that's probably why they're similar. I still liked the look of that.

We would simply put the maroon mstate with white trim on them instead of the white mstate with the sliver trim. But when I think about the unis we wore during the Croom tenure, I just try to suck it up and be supportive of whatever we wear.

It would be interesting to know how much an outfitting like that costs. For that matter, I'd like to know how much our BFBS (Black for Black's Sake) jerseys cost. If the uniform maker foots the bill, let 'em dress us up differently every week. If we're stuck with the check, that's a different matter.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the black uniforms, but it was nice to see something of a change for the game. All week, the talk around campus was what uniforms they were going to be wearing and it made for some excitement.

Texas A&M has some gray/silver in their uniforms now (also by Adidas) that looks really good, basic and classic. I'd like something along those lines.

It's our most recognizable "brand" and we already own it.

That said, these current unis kick the **** out of the Croomiforms. Those were a flat-out SWAC-inspired embarrassment.

I do alot of volunteer/ministry work with inter city football players here in Memphis as well as skateboarders (via FaithSkate Ministries). Almost all the kids these days dress straight out of 1985. Neon colors, tight clothes, crazy glasses....it's come full circle I promise you. Dare I say it, it's considered stylish now.
