UNLV part ways with Menzes, Pitino next?

There are rumors out there for Pitino to UCLA and UNLV. I don't think he will be hired by either of those schools, at least not right now. The smoke hasn't cleared away from him enough yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back coaching the college game at some point though.
On the flipside, you hire Pitino NOW before the NCAA puts a show cause on him resulting from the FBI investigation...

Pitino would turn unlv into a consistent cinderella team. Just because he is persona non grata here does not mean he forgot to coach. The biggest thing problem would be vetting his assistants but unlv would be recruiting a lower caliber player anyhow so it would not be as big of a concern.
Never said he forgot how to Coach - only that being marooned to unlv would be a fitting ending for such an attention *****.
They have only been obscured because they haven’t been winning. Pitino could change that pretty quickly and it’s hard to imagine that things go unnoticed in Vegas. You got the Raiders going there maybe in a year or two.

Which is why someone like Ricky that’s a little (or a lot) controversial could make them relevant again if not just the publicity. We always seem to have some.
Pitino brings will bring attention to wherever he goes. If he makes Unlv the giant killing mid-major that Wichita st, or Gonzaga used to be he will get tons of hype. Social media and the internet means that attention can find you wherever you are now.
I think he ends up at UNLV and he will be successful and when UNLV gets into the tournament the selection committee will pair them against us.
Morally, probably the best fit in the nation for RP. But, there is not a Division I President or Board of Trustees that will take that risk.
We're talklin' Vegas here. Politics controls things in Las Vegas and if the power brokers out there want I can see it happening. Good fit for The Don and he will be relatively successful. He considered UNLV before he came here.
