I think this just takes away from what playoffs are meant to be about. No doubt in my mind old football format a lot better by far.

I know and understand the VHSL delegates down to individual regions, and no one can control or foresee a teams record, but the problem here is the number of teams in the region itself. This is just ridiculous

Here ya go you showed up so you get a damn trophy. This really gets me I've see
9-1 teams not make it because they weren't district champs. Yet teams that haven't won a game make. Sad

Well I am going to go a different direction with this one. The playoffs are watered down now because we let too many in with this set up too? Well if there weren’t so many divisions/regions then it would be simple. But that would require different size schools to play each other and apparently we can’t even agree to that. I think it’s comical every year recently that these two topics come up.

We don’t want to let everyone in, yet we don’t want to travel but so much and god forbid if you play someone with more students. Let’s have 12 divisions cut the season in half and crown the champ based on a poll.

Lol, I think this whole discussion is silly. I will say again that the previous system was much easier to deal with because at least it was only dividing the state in half. I absolutely hate this setup with the regions. And the regions are about as screwed up as can possibly be. What’s next?

SJ has 8 losses in a very good Shenandoah District. Their non-district games were against county rivals Central-Woodstock and Strasburg, both C2 playoff teams. Call me crazy, but SJ might just notch their first win of the season in the playoffs.

In my opinion the last playoff setup was better (16 team), but even this one is better than deserving teams being left out. What my solution for this situation would be is simple, with such a small region, go with 4 teams

That's what should have happened with the current alignment.

It's a $ problem with that few teams . VHSL likes the cash !

And this is why 1A is way down this year. Why would a school that’s 0-10 even go play? I hope no one gets hurt in these useless games.

If the kids are playing for the right reasons, they will always want to compete. The most important lesson we can teach our players is to do their best even in the face of adversity. I don't think 0-10 teams should be in the playoffs, but since they are, I hope to see them play their hearts out.

Gag gag gag. They are 0-10 because they are no good at football. People who are no good at boxing end up getting hurt or worse. If you can’t swim, you drown. So stay the hell out of the water.

Well I dont remember Stonewall getting hurt when they played Riverheads already. I dont disagree with your point, but they won't necessarily get hurt/injured

I think I would forfeit. Not because we couldnt win or wouldnt. if we could not win one game, I would simply tell our team we do not deserve any further goodwill. Those kids will go thru life thinking they can lose time after time and it wont matter

Tri-Rivers District. Simple.
Not that simple...Sussex is at least 2 1/2 hrs away from all those schools in Region B. So Windsor, Surry and Franklin is at least 3 hrs away. All other schools in the Tri-Rivers are 2A and 3A schools

Tri-Rivers would travel the same long distances in region B as last year when there was only two regions, but at least the Tidewater and Neck teams won't.

Not completely true..Sussex played at home in the old format(East vs West). They had the one or 2 seed the last couple of years
