Excuse the possible lame-ness of this thread, but somebody needs to rip up the announcer's script and/or disconnect his microphone. Way too much information and constant verbal diarrhea before/during the game. Needless blather including numerous IHSA public service-type announcements and commercials for various supporting services. It was enough last night to make me consider a different game to attend next Saturday night. It really needs to be scaled way back.

I would guess for the same reasons as woody6 says he sucks. I am a LWE fan and have been since my two sons attended and played for the Griffins. I agree if it's the same annoying announcer he needs to stop making it about himself. Less is more.
It's not PB Corey. New announcer so that has changed. A lot of new at LWE including sponsored announcements. I can understand the IHSA protocol mentioned and the filler during injury TO's. Not having the marching band ( at Indy for a competition) leads to a lot of dead air which also would feel awkward. Agreed Woody, too loud and too much. Corey we could use your boys back. Roster of 136 for playoffs is....a lot of kids.
I've seen LWE games on the Cube and Comcast. You know an announcer is annoying when you notice his voice and over-the-top delivery on a game telecast. Makes the LWE program look bad, IMO. Not surprised you found the guy so annoying.
I was so enamored by that statue (#88) that WV put on the field that I barely heard the announcer. Disappointed that the WV coaches left him out there AND played him on defense. He was playing tag football out there and the coaches would high five him literally the last player WALKING off the field.
This is not me ripping a kid but rather disappointed that the staff allowed him to act like this. He was actually sitting on the bench in a spongebob blanket. Coach needs to take charge but I guess it doesn't matter any more for them.

AND it is not the same announcer. If you saw any home games THIS year it is a new person. The prior announcer of 14-15 years is still on staff at LWE, just not doing the football games. I would guess if you take to Facebook you may be able to change for the future. Thank you, but let's not judge the old with the new at LWE.
You know, I think we can all allow for the possibility that the announcer himself has been saddled with this inane script (containing largely optional content) by some suck-up administrator who is his superior. However, maybe switching to de-caf a few hours before could improve the delivery? It would be nice to be able to have a conversation with someone nearby before and during the game, something now virtually impossible.
If you are in the tower you will see that the IHSA provides the announcer with a long script of announcements that need to be made at certain times during the games.

I've never heard the LWE announcer this year, but I can tell you there are 4 pages of 1-2 paragraph adds the IHSA sends for football playoff games. It's about 3 pages for basketball, softball, etc... They tell you which ones to read before the game, each quarter, each half, twice a half, etc... Add on top of that all the regular sponsor readings for the HS which get magnified for a playoff game and it can be a lot of reading to do.
At one game, the PA announcer started after the coin flip and just rolled through them all in a row in monotone.
That many kids they should be really good. These kids need to learn to play together and keep the parents out of it. Coach Z has no excuses if he can't do it with this talent. My sons both keep an eye on the program. My older son just went to a game a few weeks ago and said they looked good and huge.

The announcer at Duchon is the best I've heard at the high school level. Gives the player names, yardage, down, distance and anything else you need to know about the last play. "Diver the ball carrier for a gain of seven... brought down by... second down and three with the ball at the Vikings 28" And that's it until the next play. Guy is awesome.

WV had some injuries coming into the game with kids playing at less than full strength. Not an excuse - but kids with bad wheels don't sprint on and off the field when it's not required (avoiding 12 men on field penalities etc). Not sure what you even talking about with the spongebob blanket. Not sure why you feel the need to call out 88 or the coaches supporting him,...he was playing both ways and did his best

First time I have been to LWE. Great facility and atmosphere. LWE played very well and executed their game plan well. Good luck in the next round.
LWE was in control of the LOS on both sides of the ball from the outset. They ran the ball freely, featuring a different RB each of the 1st three quarters, and passed only sparingly but not because they had to. The QB #3 took the majority of snaps last night. Outside of one long pass against good coverage, WV could not generate much to challenge the East defense. Obviously, Maine South will come to Frankfort with much more firepower (like H-F and B-B, their 2 losses) to better test LWE D and possibly force East offense to produce more to meet the MS 42 ppg average..
Voodz - I respectfully disagree with you. I would feel the same way in a loss. Lots of talk in the papers last week in regards to ones self. Maybe karma kicked in. As a coach, I would rather have a less talented kid give full effort. That was my point.

Sorry I was also looking for game highlights as I was out of town. Not even the papers had anything on the game.
That's the way the Edgy site is nowadays. Most of the LWE posters left a long time ago, its mostly a private school board now.
