So, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina are “red zoned” for both cases count and positivity. Arkansas and Tennessee are currently red zones for case count only.

When Sankey, Cohen, etc. indicate they need a change in trends in order for the SEC to compete in fall sports, this is what they mean.

I would start considering Big 10 schools to adopt.

NCAA President Warns 'The Data Point In The Wrong Direction' For Fall College Sp

https://www.npr.org/sections/corona...-in-the-wrong-direction-for-fall-college-spor

It included a graph that shows what the NCAA had expected when it made its earlier guidelines, and what has happened instead:

Along with updated guidelines on how colleges might resume sports in the coming year, the NCAA posted a graph illustrating the assumptions it had made previously about the trajectory of the virus in the U.S.

The new guidelines say a return to college sports had earlier assumed that national testing strategies and enhanced contact tracing, among other things, would be in place. Although testing and contact tracing infrastructure have expanded, "the variations in approach to reopening America for business and recreation have correlated with a considerable spike in cases in recent weeks."
The result, says the NCAA, is that testing must be a part of the strategy for returning to contact sports. It also notes the risks that returning to the athletic fields present: "group practice activities have the potential to significantly increase the risk of COVID-19 spread if proper distancing and/or masking practices are not implemented, and if air flow/ventilation is compromised."

Why are we still talking about player health as a reason not to play?

Is there a statistical argument that can be made to support that? Why not just come out and say we are worried about getting sued, and the optics if anyone is hospitalized?
There have literally been more pneumonia deaths to date this year for people aged 15-24 than COVID, and that's without accounting for underlying conditions.

Underlying conditions: you're out. Everyone else should be practicing by now, and planning to play.

Our hospital and ICU numbers today are frightening. We have, because of sheer stupidity, thrown away what we achieved during the lockdown.

The states not being in alphabetical order was infuriating.
Thsts my takeaway because the rest isn't a surprise.
