for Petersen. 1) Friends with Byrne 2) 12-0 = no BCS game at BSU = nothing else to prove or gain there 3) 9-3 at MSU probably = better bowl than 12-0 at BSU plus SEC conf. champion = National Championship Game not just a BCS bowl 4) Cancelled meeting about contract at BSU this week 5) Dream job at Oregon gone 6) $MSU$ > $BSU$ 7) I do not believe the lip service paid to reporters about not leaving but do believe that we are still talking to him.

I could be way off but that's the way I'm leaning.

you never know. I would imagine that Auburn will go after Petersen given their concern about offense.

Is he really a scientologist? I could see that causing some recruiting problems in the bible belt

obviously you didnt know that he was bringing Tom Cruise in as "special" teams coach aka spiritual advisor and before every practice they would read a passage from the book of Hubbard

I'm sure they'll love Petersen's offense.

that statement but I don't know. AU just wants to win big and beat Bama, I don't think they care what kind of offense they run as long as the above happens. Heck, actually I don't care what kind of offense MSU runs as long as they win. If we had been winning for the last 5 years I would have been happy with whatever that was CC was running.

If you put down maroon turf, you've got yourself a coach. After seeing them in person in Hattiesburg, I'm a believer. That's a solid team and the program actually went up a notch under Petersen after Hawkins left. Boise is a nice out-west town, but he'd have to be a good salesman to get the California athletes to come to that deep freeze.

well seeing as how not every player on boise state is a scientologist, i think he'll be fine. he's a damn good coach and that should in no way effect us hiring him.

scientology is no more or less far fetched and absurd a story than Christianity, Islam, or Mormonism

It will have about as much impact on recruiting as Croom being black.

Good luck with that. I guess being a State fan is at least giving you a little preparation for your future.

Petersen would never go to Auburn. He is good friends with Byrne. Imagine him saying "Sorry don't wanna come to State....but Auburn looks awesome." I just can't see him humiliating Byrne that way. I would LOVE to out-hire Tenn and Auburn.

While certainly the Bible (Old and New Testaments) simply divides people into 2 categories, believer and nonbeliever, there is absolutely more credibility for the claims of the Bible than the other religions you mentioned. Historiography, archaeology, and textual criticism all place the documents of Christianity or Judaism at a much different level upon objective evaluation. Now whether or not a person has just as much epistemic justification, or, warrant for believing the claims of one of those other religions, that is an interesting question.

I have never made it a prerequisite for a head coach at MSU to be a conservative, Bible-believer before I support the team. I prefer that, but since I've never done that before, that's not going to determine whether or not I support the MSU football team. Apparently Peterson is not a scientologist, but I do think recruiting in the South could be an issue for somebody with a radical set of spiritual beliefs, based on the Southern norm.

so you are saying that a man building a boat, somehow managing to gather up 2 of EVERY animal on this planet, holding all of em on said boat for 5 months, managing to keep any of em from dying or eating other animals, and managing to keep em fed and clean? you are saying that isnt as out there as the scientology story?
or that a woman who was a virgin managed to become pregnant and had a baby who was the son of an ever existing and invisible being that was sent down here via angels?
or that we drop down to an unknown and unproven place that forever burns when we die and were bad?
or that a man was killed and then his deceased body actually floated thru rock up to an unknown and unproven place where all is well when you were good in life?
or that water turned to wine?

etc etc etc. that is just the most obvious and basic basic parts that i cared to type out.

all of that is no less nuts than some alien taking DC10s thru space from his planet and the bad of the world being created from within volcanoes (a bastardized short version of scientology).

please please please, lets not dissolve this into a religion fight. i am not trying to say one is more 'correct' or 'better' than any of the others. my point was that none of them actually make sense and are logical using our current knowledge, when scrutinized.

is no different from Christianity, etc., at least spend a little time studying the origins of all four. Then come back and say there is no difference if you feel your study reflects no difference.
