It doesn't surprise me one bit. Why would any transfer with one year left of eligibility, choose to gamble on Louisville? With so many other programs that didn't go 4 and 28 with a first time head coach, grad transfers would be avoiding not just the train wreck, but the toxic cleanup.
I agree. But, the pool in the portal isn't 100% guys with only 1 year left. There are many guys with multiple years of eligibility left.
Even so, isn't it a lot harder to transfer a second time? If someone has two years remaining and goes to Louisville and the team still loses, he may want to transfer again. I thought I saw somewhere the NCAA was cutting out guys playing for 3 teams in 4 years.
Just my opinion, but I think kids want $, playing time, and a path to pro ball.
The 4th-5th year SRs could put more value on winning than younger guys.
Some of these guys have 3 years. I think there are just too many names in the hat to say it's too tough to sign guys. He's pulled BHH and Clark b2b years from the portal, and they coincidentally are guys that had multiple yrs of eligibility left.
I gave him a pass on the portal last yr a lot of others did not, and it's fair to agree to disagree on that. It's the rear view mirror. But I'm not giving him a pass this year on the portal. But I am also waiting until the roster is filled before making a conclusion. Let's see what they end up with.
It is a juggling act you want the best player you can get but they have to fit. Transfers that have been good and started aren’t going to come in to play a supporting role.
That is what Louisville needs is a back up to Clark. Go down the list of players that have committed somewhere else I bet they are all in a starting role.
Once Clark committed that eliminated a lot of people. Look at who Arkansas took they will both start with Black and Council going into draft. McKnight will start for Xavier. The guy that committed to SDSU came because Jones entered the portal.
We will see but very unlikely they land a combo guard at this point. It has to be a PG that is willing to come off the bench and that may not happen.

take a look at all the schools getting the transfers and they are not blue bloods, they are random schools from everywhere. VA got a dude. nil and the transfer rule has finally balanced out ncaa bball. the blue bloods no longer control everything. the number one draft picks no longer come from the top 5 schools. uk no longer produces number one picks no matter how much money they can throw at kids. some billionaire in any city for any school can bring the best player(s) in, or keep a squad together. expect to see two small, lower seeded schools in final 4 almost every year with one of them winning it all, uconn was just a juggernaut but anyone else could have won if nto for their dominance.. small team ball with experienced players can beat up on freshman blue bloods.
As it is with HS players, getting transfers to commit to Louisville is a tall order currently and it's hard for me to really blame any of these players from not coming to Louisville.
With so many other options, these players really have to be convinced to come here or have some kind of former connection with a coach or the city. I also can't really blame KP if he can't land the guards he needs. He can only do so much and in the end, it's not up to him. Unless he's willing to break NCAA rules.

Louisville is still an attractive option they have a Top 5 class. It is more about filling out a roster. People losing their mind over Davis is crazy because it comes with zero risk. You have to fill the roster. They all won’t be 4 and 5 stars.
I was referring to portal transfers not HS kids. Louisville is still a attractive option for those who have 4 years to play, but not so much for those with 1 season to play. If I was a above average point guard from a small program and had Louisville, Maryland and Arkansas to choose from, it probably wouldn't be Louisville.
overall i am happy with the class. just hope we land another good point guard.

There are a ton of FR and Soph in the portal like Skyy and Menifield. Win some lose some. It's not just SR in the portal. Let's see what happens.
How close is the accuracy of the “NIL values”? Is it just a guestimation?
