UPDATE on Zion at 1 pm

I’m interested in hearing Zion talk about it. Is the knee still a problem or is this situation being handled and delayed with the delicacy of a newborn infant per mommy and daddy’s request?

Tired of being on the outside looking in on this situation. Every single update since the injury has been the same story. “Progressing, impressed, doubtful next game.”

That’s the best energy I’ve seen from K since the injury. I said after the injury he didn’t look right in the press conference.I would t be surprised to see Zion play tomorrow watching that clip.

I agree. Not about Zion potentially playing tomorrow (although I do think there’s a chance), but rather that K appeared to have a little more pep than we’ve seen in quite a while. K knows how special this group is....if you think we’re sick about the injury, multiply it by infinity for him.

One more point....I’m not sure why people are surprised or upset with what they learned. This press conference was happening whether Zion was injured or not. Plus, it was doubtful K was going to list him as out or playing tomorrow.

It’s frustrating, I get it.

I think the best move for our sanity going forward in terms of speculation is to quit worrying about Zion. Focus on the upcoming game with the mindset that he isn’t going to play and stop peeking into the future. One game at a time. When he does return and we see him log a minute, we can all dabble back into the future discussions (seeding, NCAA T, etc.)

Of course we aren’t going to do this. But yeah lol

I get it was a unique situation with him being the number 1 pick in the draft, but if Zion had bumped knees like Tre did against Wake would we have seen him in the game again that night or would he have been held out and been day-to-day?

So you're saying the staff is risking the health of Tre or that Zion isn't really injured?

Coach was different in that press conference. I think the chances are higher now that he plays than an hour ago

Not at all, please show me in my post where I said Zion was not injured. I am just saying I do not believe the same caution was used with Tre.

So we're risking the health of Tre then but not Zion since he's the potential number 1 draft pick.

I did not say the staff was risking the health of any player, I was simply posing the question. Was the same amount of caution used? Tre could barely walk at the point when the injury happened.

There are two ways of looking at it. 1. Zion is very close to getting back and we are good. 2. The longer this drags out, the longer it looks like it will drag on/linger or is more serious than we thought.

If we weren’t playing UNC tomorrow night I think people would be approaching this a whole lot different. I don’t for a second believe that we just want Zion back. I mean, yes, we do....but we want him back for the UNC game.

ding ding ding....that coupled with us getting blown-out in Cameron. If you tell me that Zion will be 100% healthy and will be in uniform next Thursday (Coach K has hinted at this multiple times) I will take that without blinking. The Carolina game may sting tomorrow, maybe not (I have faith in our guys and our leader to compete tomorrow), but I will gladly take our chances going forward if this is the last game Zion will be out.

Glass half full or empty I suppose.

^Reminds me of the old adage:
An optimist will tell you that the glass is 1/2 full.
A pessimist will tell you that the glass is 1/2 empty.
A realist (such as myself) knows that if he sticks around long enough, he will have to wash that damn glass! :)

Just trying to lighten things up folks, keep your chin up about Zion, everything is done for a reason. "IT'S GONNA BE OK"!
Go Duke!

I was wondering the same thing. They sit zion for almost a month when he was barely limping off the court. Tre goes out and can barely walk. No tests, no nothing. Just get out there and play kid!

Now that I think about it, they probably shouldn’t have had the press conference before the UNC game, because nothing good could come from it.. because you don’t want UNC to know if he’s playing or not.. not knowing makes them have to practice for 2 different Duke teams..

But you also don’t want to have a press conference that gives no real answer either.. because it disappoints fans.

So I’m going to guess that Zion dresses and warms up with the team, is available, but doesn’t play.

I highly doubt K gives two sh*ts about what fans are thinking, nor should he.
