Looks like we will be relatively young again this season. I've heard that safety may me our weakness on defense. With that said it looks like we have a boatload of them on the roster.

I can't imagine being weak at safety with the returning experienced safeties we have plus a ton of young safeties

Not sure the actual limit this year, but it’s higher due to exceptions from last year. I don’t think that season counted against anyone’s eligibility so everyone could have returned plus new signees. Also had people sit out last year that didn’t lose a year. So ncaa will let schools have larger rosters this year.

Wish we could have gotten a couple of our seniors back, particularly Jones and Thompson on defense.

1. Didn’t realize Sawyer Robertson was 6’4”.
2. Surprised King Ani is still on roster.
3. Albert Reese and Dollar Bill are large humans.
4. Charles Cross is the skinniest looking 310 lb person around.
5. Tucker Day has to be pushing 30 years old.

I saw Sawyer at big dawg camp or whatever it’s called now. He’s huge. Looked more like Tom Brady than a college freshman.
Cross was also there and was impressive to see. He weight is what it is from the weight room. That guy has to have the lowest BMI of the OL abs probably of all the OL/D

ETA: I assume Forbes has put on some weight and muscle, but my gosh…he looks like a skeleton with a skin suit.

Don’t expect us to have a weak spot on defense unless we have the injury bug hit. Linebacker and safety depth are a concern but our starters will be solid at every spot.

I know you are joking, but this is still my biggest concern about Leach and this Air Raid stuff. I don't want to get soft on the lines, especially the DL, which absolutely happened at Wazzou, and that may have been due to available personnel. Usually your offense has to go hand in hand with your defense. It's hard to run a passing offense and have a shut down defense, it's usually bend but don't break at best.

This is really why I hope Leach adopts more of a time-consuming running game to go along with all the defensive talent we have in the area. Can't have a bunch of quick 3 and outs.

I understand your concern but I think it was much harder to recruit DL to WSU than it is to State.

That's why I said this:

The bigger concern is a passing offense (which slows the clock) tiring out a defense. It may be more of the tempo stuff that gets you in trouble, which it doesn't seem like Leach does too much of.

This was dealt with ad nauseum when he was hired, and I don't remember the specifics, but in a nutshell, Leach's teams have generally had greater TOP than opponents and run an equal number or more plays than opponents. He had one of the lowest 3 and out percentages. If his offense works, it should help the defense. Time will tell.

This statement has been debunked a million times already. Leach's offense is not just a wide open passing attack. It's a ball control offense and his offense historically has favorable time of possession numbers. This idea that the defense is on the field an inordinate amount of time due to the nature of the offense is hogwash.
