I keep hearing analysts on TV talk about how Western Kentucky is a serious threat to upset Illinois. What happened when they played us? Were they missing some starters or something? We blew the doors off of them! Granted, Ravern had a huge night, but some of that had to be due to WKU's poor defense.

64% from 3 point land and had an effective FG % (counting made threes as an extra 1/2 shot made) of 79%. If we do that in the next six games we will be national champs. I wouldn't read too much about WKU into that particular result. They ran through a buzzsaw that night.

a bad team. they took care of louisville earlier this season. i dont know if they have the size to match up with illinois, but they ought to give them a decent run. they have a guard (mendez-valdez, i think) that plays a lot like huertas did for om. just a good scorer...

(sorry if this double-posts, the internet magicians ate my first attempt)
with the exceptions of the early season thumpings by Evansville and Murray. Mendez-Valdez turned into the Sun Belt player of the year, and AJ slaughter is a very good guard, too. Jeremy Evans gives them some size inside, but we'll see if he can hold his own against a Big 10 team. Some of the upset talk probably comes from the big Louisville win, plus people still remember last year (and somehow never bring up WKU blew a 16 point second half lead), even though this year it's a totally new team and a new coach. Also, WKU has the lowest RPI of the 12 seeds, and Illinois has the highest RPI of the 5 seeds and lost 3 of their last 4 games, so that might lead to some upset speculation.
