US - 2, Ghana 1. Maybe just as important for us advancing is Germany-Portugal at 11:00 this morning. We could really use a 2-0 (or greater) Germany victory. I think our best chance to advance is to beat Ghana, tie Portugal, then face a Germany team that has already pretty much clinched the #1 spot in our group and managing to beat Portugal on goal differential.

1-1 draw. I've got a bad feeling about this game. Both teams need to win in order to have a chance to advance and I think that Ghana and the US will draw and then lose to Germany and Portugal.

Ghana? Man this weak out of conference scheduling has really gotten out of control.

1-1 I think the teams are pretty even. Ghana does have some injuries so we will see if that comes into play. We really need to win it 2-0 but I don't see it happening.

I'd love to be wrong about this one... I just think we're too susceptible in the back and not quite good enough going forward.

Ghana has the population of Texas and the GDP of South Dakota...

And they own us in soccer.

Ghana wins 2-1 today, effectively ending any chance for the US to advance out of the Group of Death, and Soccer takes its typical 4 year vacation from the mainstream US Sports consciousness.

Looking good so far. Germany up 2-0 after 32 minutes.

Now 3-0 at the half and Portugal is down to 10 men. Looking good if the USA can hold up their end of the deal and beat Ghana tonight.

Portugal player Pepe got a Red Card in the game? Does he have to sit out next game ... against us on Sunday? Does Portugal have to play Sunday game down a player?

Pepe will be suspended for the USA-Portugal game. They can still play with 11 though. You only play a man down for the rest of that match, not the next one too. There have been a few really stupid red cards already in this World Cup.
