Haven't seen that much soccer but of all the USMT matches, don't recall when they were that aggressive and that quick on counter.

Really like Dest and Robinson. Both are comfortable delivering the ball and pushing the offense.

Arreola, can't help it, is a pestering son *****. Forced at least 3 turnovers right in front of their box.

Wish they left Pepi in to get the HT. Stud in the making.
Don't need him hurt or rundown for next game. And Weah looked great.

Oh, yeah, Canada is for real. Tied both US & Mex on the road. IMO, not the best players, but easily the best organized & on point. Super coaching job.

I'm just a beginner soccer fan here but I am curious.
If you guys had to pick between a UK football national championship or a USA mens world cup championship which would you pick?

If Pulisic and Reyna could ever stay healthy, I mean ever, geesh. Pulisic especially needs a personal strength coach something. Anyway of they could, those two and Pepi can be world class good attack. Not to mention Weah who is coming into his own

Our defense and midfield have always been decent, we have always struggled to score. Those 4 mentioned above can change that in a big way. The future not USA soccer is as bright as it's ever been.

I think Musah may offer talent like Pulisuic: carrying/dribbling the ball right at the defense & forcing them to react.

^ Thanks. Great for him. But I'd hope that would happen after the WC. Would hate for him to sit on a bench in Euroland between now & next summer. I mean $22M is mid-pack in top Euro Leagues.

Read article from Chelsea blog where he talks about playing in Eredevisie. Sounds like Chelsea signing him and loaning to Eredevisie is possible

Another example of how far off MLS is from Euro soccer quality - assuming much higher salary = much better quality.

MLS is a crap niche league and I honestly believe USL will do more for US soccer longterm than MLS. USL spreading into every small and medium sized market in US and teams are bringing with them training academies that are outpacing traditional traveling clubs. Over time we will see a bunch of players come out of those systems.

The one La Liga match I've been to is at Real Sociedad in San Sebastian vs. Sporting Gijon. Some 6-8 years ago.
Haven’t been able to catch game in Europe. Serie A was on break when we were there. Was hoping to catch a Chelsea game when UK was going to play MSU in London. ******* covid

Some 15 years ago caught Sheffield U at Fulham in EPL. Only other Euro match I've been to.

Missed the game but have read plenty about it. Not one shot on goal? Really?
A WC qualifier coach who is in charge during a game like that should be fired when his plane lands in the USA.
It was Panama for Christ sake, not Mexico.

I think it tells you we are not as deep as we think we are. But, for those criticizing playing 2nd tier players, there is a thing call load management. 3 games in a tight window, coming off travel from an international port of call probably takes a lot out of you. Other players have to play. Would they have played had Reyna and Pulisic and others been healthy? Some still would have, others wouldn't.

He brought a few guys on at the half, when still tied. Yes, he's still a bad coach, selection was influenced more by his brother than Earnie.

The things that continues to infuriate me are lack of awareness (like youth soccer awareness), too much dribbling into traffic (no one, save a few, is that good), no creativity.

Same. Embarrassing. Population of 350 mil loses to place the size of Kentucky. How is that even possible

Great crowd tonight. Still pissed that Gregg dresses like a GD water boy and that this was a game in Columbus against Costa Rica and not Mexico but whatever.

CONCACAF shithoussery will never die

The main thing they need to work on with the press is a quicker transition from defense to offense. When they won the ball back in Costa Rica's end, they seemed to stop, regroup, and then let Costa Rica catch up instead of passing forward right away and trying to attack quick.

Not a whole lotta confidence for tonight. Some missing, some lacking form, no continuity and GB's continuous use of non useful players, but hey go USA...If weather/wind keeps up, it could be a brutal game to watch.

I think we're looking at a 1-1 draw type game tonight; inevitably people will lament what I think we are going to see and that is Arriola and Yedlin starting on the right with Zimmerman and Miles Robinson but I see that a little more pragmatically. The fact is Weah isn't a 90 minute player yet at Lille and he offers more coming off the bench than Arriola would and Pulisic would give us time after the 70th minute at best. Without a healthy Pulisic and completely lacking Reyna I can't argue as strongly against Arriola. Weah then gets the nod against Jamaica.

I'd stick with the MMA midfield regardless of whether it's Romo or Guardado pared with Herrera and Alvarez; Canada's overall athleticism did expose Mexico's midfield a little in their matchup in Azteca, so three ground coverers in midfield as counterpressers look like a quality tonic to me though a proactive move of Busio over Musah would have one big benefit and that is in set pieces Busio is as good with service on free kicks and corners as there is in CONCACAF. That was the difference in the two US wins in the summer over Mexico.

...if Scally was integrated last window I wouldn't hesitate to start him rather than Yedlin; Scally among the entirety of our outside back pool would seem retrofitted for a US/Mexico tilt...he goes into challenges like he's nuclear powered--something of a Bizarro Dest in that regard--and I love duel winners in CONCACAF games. But...composure is as critical as potential recklessness. While I'm a little concerned with how we handle Jimenez, I can't imagine El Tri isn't every bit as concerned at having a less than first team CB tandem with Chaka as an RB on Aaronson's lifely left wing.
