Wow there are 25 teams worse than us,we could play them all in the next 3 years and maybe get to a bowl game each year(Stoops would be a legend in KY),if only we weren't in the pesky SEC.

This ranking could improve as the season goes on. Not looking likely but a hidden factor is that Stoops early recruits at UK might be maturing late. (Stoops sure is)

Look at where we are compared to some other teams like Virginia and Purdue. Hard to believe those guys are worse than us.

From a different perspective... Look at all those teams that "supposedly" we are out recruiting...msu...Otis...Toledo. Wku...wmu and several others... Why are we not winning like they are? I think we all probably know the answer, don't we?

South Carolina at #57, UK at #103. I know SC is ahead of us...but surely not 46 spots! Wow, if we beat them like UL beat FSU, say something like 63-20, we should move up about 40 spots! And since Stoops is going to have all the defensive issues worked out this week, and we will be one of the top D's in the nation, and since we did so well against that powerhouse defense of NMSU last Saturday, we should have no trouble scoring 60 or 70 against SC.

In all seriousness...there is NO WAY that SC is 46 spots better than us as these rankings show...maybe 5 to 10 spots, but that is about it. They are NOT good.

Purdue is just about hopeless. OTOH, VA just hired a very successful, proven coach to attempt to reverse their fortunes. This was one of the most surprising coaching moves from last season. As a university, VA has a lot to offer and the state has a fairly good HS football. Beamer "built" VPI on VA talent and now he is gone so recruiting VA will likely be a free for all between the 2 new coaches.

Mendenhall is clearly a good coach and I think a guy who can truly lift up the VA program if they make any "necessary" commitments to the program and show some patience as he transitions to an east coast recruiting base. JMO.

Peace

If this is anywhere near accurate and South Carolina comes in here and beats us by 2 touchdowns then the season and Stoops tenure at UK are history. It comes down to that and there is no way around it, anyone who wants to go to a home game the rest of the year can probably pick up a ticket lying on the ground outside the stadium

The sadness of this poll is that after 4 years and 100% support from the UK Athletic Department and complete fan support and the #'s 29 (2013), #18 (2014), #34 (2015), and #29 (2016) recruiting classes, Coach Stoops still can only muster a #103 team out of 128. That is a depressing statistic.

Just for the record, UL's recruiting classes for the last 4 years are - #41, #36, #32, and #36. Kentucky has recruited better, yet despite that UL is the #3 team in the land and rolling and we are the doormats of the power 5. It HAS to be coaching. There isn't any other way to explain it.

I live in Utah and have been a BYU season ticket holder for the past 6 years. Bronco is a very good coach. Especially on the defensive side. He has had to take rosters with very little size or athleticism, and virtually no depth, and has been able to mold them into effective units.

Bronco's teams really lacked an identity for the past few seasons. They couldn't decide if they were a running team or a passing team, and they certainly didn't have any use for TEs. But maybe with the better athletes they will be able to recruit at Virginia and in the ACC that will improve.

At any rate, I think Bronco will have Virginia competitive in the ACC in about 2 more seasons. They may not win a game this year.... unless they can pull off an upset at Wake Forrest.

According to this poll our remaining schedule looks like this:
USC - 57
Bama - 2
Vandy - 87
Miss St. - 59
Mizzou - 78
UGA - 19
UT - 15
UofL - 3

I'd like to argue that they have us ranked too low.... but I'm not sure what I could base that on. I guess the optimist would point out that we only have to beat 4 SEC teams with an average ranking of 70.25 plus Austin Peay to make a bowl game. The pessimist would point out that we have shown no ability thus for to pull that off.

UVA new HC has his work cut out for him. So far 0-3 including a home opener shite-stomping at the hands of the in-state private school-FCS (1AA) Richmond Spiders to the tune of 37-20. OUCH!!!!!!!

Consider this......Georgia Southern, WKU, and App St are all recent converts to DI-FBS football. They are ranked 40, 46, and 54 respectively as compared to our 103 ranking. WOW!!!!

I wonder if any of those three AD's are interested in a SEC AD gig?

We're not that bad. I think?

S&P+ has us at 95th. I'd say that's about right. Basically where we were last year (also 95th, how's that for consistency?).

For those scoring at home, we were 75th in the S&P+ Joker's final season.

Just give Stoops a few more recruiting classes and a few more years to get a couple mistakes cleaned up, he said his players don't think they can win but he's going to get it cleaned up this week..he'll get this thing rolling like a well-oiled Buick LeSabre.

Mitch and Mark WILL get us to our ultimate goal of 6-6 one of these days, I promise you. Just give them four more years, four more beatdowns to Louisville and $15 million more of your hard earned money..and stop being so selfish, those meanie faces at Louisville are winning, sure, but they're doing it the WRONG way. That guy Jurich over there will do anything to win, I mean what if Barnhart would've hired Petrino and then he would've left us 4 years later to go to a better school? I don't think I could've handled four years of being a top-25 caliber team and having a chance to win the SEC East every year :-(

I mean come on guys. What if Mitch would've hired Petrino and then Bobby got caught at Malone's with a lady friend? It would kill our football program's solid reputation by him beating down opponents and hanging out with beautiful co-eds on the weekends :-(

Come on guys. He's a sleezeball. I'm not sure why so many of you wanted him. He would've left us at the first chance he got to go coach that vaunted UofL program, he just loves that place to death..he would rather go there than LSU or Alabama, he loves that program with all his heart, he would rather be coaching a top-25 Louisville team than a top-25 Kentucky team, I promise you. He would've left and we would've been stuck with a top-25 team and our most wins in the last three decades
