USA U 19 downed Australia 70-52 Sunday to win the FIBA WBB title game.

It wasn't quite the romp that USA had administered on the rest of the field, but USA led 18-14 after one quarter and steadily increased the lead as the game went on.

Louisville WBB signee Payton Verhulst and her U19 teammates went undefeated in the 16-team tournament.

Australia has always been one of the countries that plays the USA close but even they can’t compete with this class. It will be interesting to see how this group of girls develops 4 years from now when some of them are in the olympics. The substitution rules are really weird in fiba because you will be watching the game and there is no stoppage of game but the next time down court without a timeout there is a different lineup. Really like Payton and her game she is going to be another special player at Louisville.

I believe that Payton was playing in an unfamiliar position much of the time unlike Citron, Clark, Diamond, etc. She handled the ball very little of the time. Even so, she still showed she can hit the the three point shot and showed flashes of being able to drive to the basket laying it in with either hand. Defensively, Payton rebounds very well for someone at 6'1" and seemed to guard very well: This version of the Card's team should be a very good rebounding team as almost all positions show superior rebounding capabilities. It will also be fun to see how Coach Walz uses Payton, Keanna, and Hailey to get them open for three point shots
