2 Year Bowl ban will definitely affect recruiting plus 20 scholarships. You go Lane Kiffin. The ESPN reporter basically said he didn't understand why the punishment was so great because- "all the people involved are gone." Really, he said that.

With the glut of bowls around these days, the NCAA can't afford to hand out too many bowl bans or it's going to wind up not having enough eligible teams to fill out all the bowls. What will they do then? Allow a 5-7 team to go? Or invite a I-AA team?

if Carroll (and Floyd?- O.J. Mayo was brought up on the radio this morning about this) was still around. Charisma and unconventional motivational techniques don't count for a whole lot when dealing with the NCAA.
Wait, weren't DaCoachO and Kiffykins still at USC back then? This could get fun.

..it would have been twice as tough on t hem.

Still.. nobody in the media is playing up the scholarship reductions. 20 is a ghastly number and even USC can't overcome that for a few years.

wonder if there is a XenaBruin involved...

Link Here... Interesting quote from the story: "<font face="Arial, Helvetica" size="2">One former coach who was part of a
Johanningmeier investigation once called him "a bulldog" in NCAA
cases. Johanningmeier has been involved in several high-profile
cases." </font>

A 17ing $5,000 fine? WTF

After conducting its investigation, the NCAA concluded that USC
showed "a lack of institutional control, impermissible inducements,
extra benefits, exceeding coach staff limits, and <span style="font-weight: bold;">unethical conduct
by an assistant football coach</span>."

And they still hired the bozos they did with Lane and Ed.... Boy they must be shooting for the death penalty.....

Anyone know who the assistant football coach was?
