Anyone ever listen to someone who constantly uses phrases like "YOU KNOW" or "NORMALLY SPEAKING" or how about "WELL TO BE HONEST" and they say them over and over and over..................................

Anyone else hear these ?

Feel free to add to the list.

I don't know... but it sounds like somebody has a case of the Mondays.

Use of the word "literally", literally before every descriptive phrase or word and most often used incorrectly at that.

*Just thought of another one: "Am I the only one around here who... "

In your own words.
"Tell me what happened, in your own words."
I didn't know I had words that were just mine. Can anyone else use them?

It's darkest before dawn. No it isn't. The darkest part of night should be midnight.

If I hear "I mean...." one more touching time. By hell, if you mean it, get it right the first time.

I get on my son all the time for when he is trying to counter what you say with, "but you know what?" He usually also says the person's name with that phrase when he is talking to them and they are the only person in the discussion. He then follows that up with a reason that he knows more about the topic or is better at it. Here is a made up example.

Random person - "I am really good at Call of Duty."
My son - "But you know what random person? I am better than you."

It is annoying because he thinks he is always right and the way he says it sounds cocky. He probably inherited the always thinks he is right from his mother though.

Another one: "I hate to tell you, but..."

********--you're about to smack or lay waste to somebody's argument. You don't "hate to tell them", you're giddy with enthusiasm, jackass.

It drives me insane that the younger generation can't complete a sentence without saying "like" at least 3 times. My daughters boyfriend was at the house the other night and in one sentence I counted 5 times he said like. :chairshot:

People that don't understand how to use an ellipsis correctly...
I'm good with mild misuse or even incorrect use. I occasionally use it as a break instead of it's actual intent and I never space correctly.

I'm against the misuse in relation to the run on sentence that turns into random thought...when it really indicates poor composition skill...more or less people who didn't pay attention in school...but that's just me...
