Back in the good ol' days (mid teens), there'd probably several thousand folks in the junction after the game kicked off and with the stadium full, but I can see how know that could turn into trouble (as evidenced by the incident two years ago).

Making a judgment call at each tailgate to decide how many people can stay to “watch their belongings” is going to likely be a disaster. It will be easy if 20 people are standing around. When it’s 3 at one tailgate and 5 at another, they’ll have some people really pissed off at the decisions being made.

I’m assuming this is an attempt to try and get people into the stadium. There are so many non usm fans that will dress up in black and gold and show up to tailgate, take pics and put them on facebook b/c everyone else is doing the same. Almost none of them have any intention of going to the game nor could they care less about what is happening inside the stadium.

Of course, Hattiesburg being Jackson jr. it may be an attempt at keeping trouble makers away. I could see them trying to remedy several problems with this action.

I think I understand the premise of this but how the hell is the Hattiesburg police or campus police going to enforce this?
Is there a new “tailgate police” in place?
I’ve been to a USM game twice in my life and the last was in 2016.
Maybe a lot has happened/changed since then to put this new policy in place but I don’t recall seeing anything back then to have such drastic measures trying to be implemented.
Seems quite ridiculous unless there have been some shenanigans going on outside the stadium during the game.

Complete insanity.
I probably tailgated at MSU 3-times the amount of times I actually went to the game. I often gave my tix to younger friends and family who were more intense fans, and I’d sit down, drink, watch it on the big screen and guard our shittt. And I enjoyed every minute of it.

I’ve said this before:
I know of no other university that works so hard to alienate its own fan(sg) and alumni.

The crazy thing is that Notre Dame has been doing this forever. 30 mins before until 30 mins after. And its just as awful as you think….
