people down here that have a say in the matter have been wanting to get rid of him for about 3 years, which is ridiculous considering he's the absolute best they would EVER get.
He was on the Morning Vent one day last week spouting about how he was in negotiations with their AD on an extension. He then followed that by bragging about how he had signed the 2 best seniors in the state and how 6 years isn't very long when it comes to building USM basketball. He was also ripping on Stans calling him "Ole what's his name" and stuff. He came off like a cocky jerk. I'll be glad when they can his ****** sober ***.
I grew up in Hattiesburg and my father (huge state fan) would take me to all those basketball games when I was a kid. He just loved college basketball and Southern used to be a fun team to watch. MK Turk was the coach then and Clearance Weatherspoon was shattering backboards. People used to actually go to the games and I remember times when the stadium sold out for teams like Tulane and Memphis State. As much as I make fun of USM, there were lots of memories from Reed Green Colisium.
The Arena was getting old in the 90's when I witnessed most of their games. It is now officially falling apart. James Green became the coach in the late 90's and they won Conference USA after one solid year. Then the program went straight downhill and Eustachy has not been able to fix it. We really don't go after the same recruits so I wish them the best of luck.

I mean, the ole' "hey its 10 to 1 girls down here" just doesn't cut it. Look, it is time, shut their athletic programs down and force them to buy State tickets. For football, bus the 10,000 that have season tickets up for the games and make them fill up the upper decks at DWS. We can nickname them the skybuzzards. To the top!
...That being said, USM has decent support for football and excellent support for baseball. Support for basketball, on the other hand, is pitiful. The Eagles need to quit playing the local NAIA schools and schedule more Division I nonconference teams-- even if USM has to go on the road more often than a SWAC school.

The main problem is Giannini. He's a 17-ing leech with no energy, enthusiasm, or balls. Giannini makes more state money than either Byrne or Boone. He didn't like or support James Green, who is a great guy and kept the program relatively competitive. He won C-USA in 2001 when Cincy and Louisville were still in the league. But Giannini didn't have the balls to fire him when he came in in 1999 and bring in his own guy. He cut the recruiting budget to the bone. Green actually recruited out of his own pocket for the last couple of years. He never quit and force Giannini to finally fire him after the program was bled dry to try to make James quit.
Then Giannini gambled big and lost bigger on Eustachy. About 500 people maybe give two ***** about the program now. The program is dead, and it isn't coming back. Eustachy is a condescending, arrogant prick. He's a good fit for Giannini, who ran Louisiana-Monroe's athletic program into the ground before somebody at USM was stupid enough to hire him there. One of the reasons Corky Palmer retired is to keep from dealing with him. And now apparently Larry Fedora is throwing his hat into every opening he can to get away from him.

I completely agree. He is nothing but a ****. James Green actually had some good teams and coached the hell out of the guys he had. You could slowly see that program being sucked for all it was worth during his era.
