Saw this blurb about USM starter Dylan Causey in the On3 article:

Sweeney will be countered by a player on the opposite end of his career as South Jones High School product Dylan Causey will take the mound. Causey has thrown in four games with one start. He’s only thrown 3.0 innings with two hits, two unearned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.

How is that possible? He's thrown in 4 games (including one start) but has only pitched 3.0 innings... That previous start must've been AWFUL!!

They do a lot of by committee work with their bullpen which is very deep. They are going to throw a bunch of guys for an inning or two each tonight, most likely, including the starter.

Let's hope he can only throw balls and 85mph fast balls with no movement. I hope State lights the mustard buzzards up.

Interesting. I checked. It was vs. Alabama. Not a good start but looks like they were planning to pitch by committee that game anyway. That's 1 inning, 2 hits, 2 runs (both unearned), & a hit batter.

Will be an interesting matchup for sure. One of the best pitching staffs in the country versus one of the best offenses in the country.

This follows a well known philosophy of Coach Ostrander. He often pitches by committee in midweek games for a few reasons. 1. No established midweek starter, yet. 2. He likes young pitchers to feel rewarded for their work by getting mound time. 3. Evaluation under fire for future reference.
