A LOT of MLS to nashville smoke out there. Sounds like the announcement leaked today ahead of Mayor Berry's stadium announcement.

That would be horrible for Cincinnati's chances if it turns out to be true. I feel that St Louis and Detroit would eventually put forth better bids - and Charlotte and Tampa are much bigger markets.

I disagree. The first two to have a viable stadium deal get the next two teams. It’s really that simple. If cincy can get a deal together, they’ll get one.

Well the moment of truth is on us folks! We need 3pts against Panama and 1 on the final day.

Personally, I think we draw Panama and ultimate settle into the playoff spot.

Crazy that after this next week all but 6 spots will be decided for Russia 2018. Im no Nostradamus, but here is my guess:

France, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Montenegro (surprise), England Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Egypt, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Congo DR,

Playoff 1 - USA v. Australia
Playoff 2 - Argentina v. New Zealand

EURO 4 : Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Wales

I think we get the 6. Fact is, Not having Yedlin was a massive massive blow last month. WE drop off SOOO much when we go to zusi. By simply plugging Yedlin in we will see a different team out there. I know that seems like a stretch, but going from an awful right back to a very good right back instantly makes us terrific. I also like not bringing johnson in. He's just not playing well right now. It simplifies the approach and the lineup. It's probably the easiest lineup to guess... Ever

Altidore Demsey

Pulisic
Nagbe Arriola
Bradley
Viafania Besler Cameron Yedlin

That's a very good lineup of guys who are all playing at a high level. Cameron played a great 90 last week for stoke, Besler is playing well, Yedlin is getting a ton of praise. Nagbe is playing great. Pulisic is in terrific form and Altidore is playing the best soccer of his life. And i think for this game, and perhaps this game only, demsey needs to start. Wood will start at the WC, but because of the importance of this game and the impact wood has proven he can make off the bench, i think dempsey should start. He's also playing well.

So we only playing with 8? LOL JK. I take it you meant:

Wood, Altidore
Pulisic
Nagbe - Arriola
Bradley
Vilafana - Besler - Cameron - Yedlin
Howard

We have a player named "nagbe ariolla"

I didn't put in howard, but clearly he will start at home and guzan on the road. That's been the MO.

How are you seeing i only listed 8? I clearly listed 10. Math much?

IN all seriousness... I just don't think wood and altidore compliment each other. I think wood starts alone against T&T. And might even start alone in the wc if we go with the 5-4-1/3/4/3 i've been wanting us to impliment.

On the MLS front... It sounds like Sacremento and Nashville are getting the next two slots as long as nashville's stadium deal gets approved. Considering Nashville's success with public/private projects just like this, it is assumed it will sail through. They're the model on how to make these deals work with Nissan Stadium, Bridgestone arena and the new convention center... As well as the new aaa baseball stadium they built.

No you didnt, You originally put this:

Pulisic (1)
Nagbe(2) Arriola (3)
Bradley (4)
Viafania (5) Besler (6) Cameron (7) Yedlin (8)

And I called you on it at 4:40p

You then edited the original to include Wood, Altidore at 4:51pm

That's really weird. Because I put dempsey and Altidore originally. I think your quote may have gotten cut off. Anyway...

There is chatter of a 3 man/5 man back line. I've been a proponent of that if we bring chandler in as he can play on the left. His left foot is as good as his right. Bit I don't think Viafania can play the left wing back role. There is chatter that ariola would move to the left. But I'm not familiar enough with him and whether or not he can cross with his left.

The lineup Ives Galarcip put out was as follows:

Altidore Wood
Arriola Pulisic Yedlin
Bradley Nagbe
Ream Cameron Gonzalez

That's an awfully attacking lineup. I'm cool with it. Especially since that same back 3 played so well in mexico and because cameron has been the central guy in Stoke's back 3. I just hope nagbe and bradley can hold up through the middle.

Panama tried to pressure us in the gold cup so having #'s in the midfield is intriguing.

Sure would've been nice if we played this well against Mexico or Costa Rica. But dang this makes me feel good. I've loved the offensive flexibility, explosiveness, and play making. Defense still needs tweaking though.....better teams would have 3 goals easily.

- Pulisic world class. I take back earlier comments on his size.
- Altidore & Wood not wc - don't score on open 1-1's b/c of too many touches. OK, that's all.
- Nagbe who? DId he play?
- Arena doing a good job with limited talent.
- Glad to See BA recognizes Dempsey good for 15-20 minutes.

Conclusion: If we make round of 16 in WC, we will have achieved our level of (in?)competence. QF's seems a pipe dream.

You’re just full of absurd/hot takes.

Remember folks. This is the same guy who thought size mattered in soccer...

You don't deserve a serious comment. BUt...

We've got the deepest and most talented group of players we've ever had. Outside of our fullback spots we've got multiple options at each position. We also have a truly world class player for the first time in our history. Donovan at his peak was a very good player, but he wasn't world class. To say we have "limited talent" is naive.

Are we a top 5-8 team in the world in terms of talent? no. Could we make the quarter finals in russia? Absolutely. We nearly did 4 years ago playing mix diskerud and aron johansen...

Look at it this way. We played our 2nd string lcb and rcb last night. Fabian Johnson didn't even make the trip. And we likely have weston mckinnie after we get qualified tuesday night. We could easily have the top young central midfield tandem in the world... And that doesn't even include tyler adams who is going to be sold to europe after the mls season for BIGGG bucks.

@goukcatsgo

What you have to realize is the last 2 world cup cycles we vastly over-achieved. No way should we have gotten out of a group of Germany, Portugal, Us and Ghana. This man be a cycle that we fail to get out of the group. it also plays a big role on who winds up being seeded.

I hope Switzerland and Poland maybe do what they need to get seeded and we draw them. I also would like to stay away from France and Spain.

My dream group:

Switzerland
Croatia/England
USA
Nigeria

Are we not able to be in a group with Iran or Saudi Arabia or Syria/Australia? Seems like it would be better to be in their group instead of Nigeria.

Also looks like Holland is out and Argentina is in huge trouble.

The best teams have larger players on average than lesser teams. But speed kills in any sport.

I said I thought size was a problem with Pulisic. He's proving me wrong, but I also think he's filling out. We'll see how he holds up physically thru the years.

Oh, you choose to ignore that I corrected myself on CP in my post you savaged. I guess it's wrong once, wrong always for you.

If we're not top eight teams in world, then we shouldn't make QF's, agree? I doubt we'll be top 15 in 2018.

We will likely be in the same pot as Saudi Arabia, Syria, Australia. Iran could get into a different pot due to their ranking. They aren't bad. And it looks like Netherlands are out.

The crazy thing is that Argentina could qualify via the playoff, and still be a seeded team due to rankings.

Also, while we had a big win, our qualification has a long way to go still too.... If US loses at Trinidad and Panama and Honduras both win at home on Tues, we are completely out. More than just possible too.

Big concern, Honduras and Panama will be playing 2 teams already qualified who probably wont risk stars to injury. USA has a nice win at home, but must get a result on the road or they very well might be out.
