UT reports 3rd recruiting violation

You would think there would be an out in the contract, without having to pay the full buyout, when a coach continues to break rules. If so, I bet TN cans his a$$ soon.
So they've gotten in trouble for using smoke when the players came out on a recruiting visit, for holding a mock press conference for players on a recruiting visit, and for mentioning a recruit's name after signing day when the recruit has yet to sign.
We're not exactly talking about buying defensive tackles for hundreds of thousands of dollars here.
They're all secondary, so nothing will likely come of it. I think we reported 5 or 6 secondary violations one year under Orgeron, and nothing came of it. Nothing will come of this, and the only reason it's getting so much media coverage is because it's UT and because Kiffin has been running his mouth. UT won't fire him, and they won't feel the need to fire him.
Most teams commit secondary violations at some point. The main problem for Kiffin is that he tried to call out Urban Meyer for what he thought was a secondary violation (even though it wasn't) and then followed that up with having to report secondary violations of his own.

Part of his problem is that he came from USC which is the big fish in the PAC-10. They can do all kinds of things and get away with it- see Reggie Bush saga- plus as someone mentioned, there isn't the focus on college football in the West like it is in the South.
When you're in the SEC, just because you're a school like UT, that doesn't mean you can go around calling people out like Bama, Florida, Georgia, and whoever else he is going to call out. And if you do call them out, you better damn sure be right. The reason is because you will not see an SEC team dominate the conference for decades at a time like USC. Our league is too deep. You have to focus on your own business and take care of it.

what the hell they are doing. O did the same thing while he was at OM. He'd have the smoke and the players run out in their jerseys, etc. He would even put the recruits on a bus and take them to the stadium while he was up in front going "Wild Boy" like they were headed to a game. Asking a certain recruit how many yards he was going to have that night, how many sacks, how many pancake blocks, etc. He'd get into his act and put on a show.
And they damn well know it's against the rules. Secondary yes, but the guys who flagrantly ignore the secondary rules because they know nothing will come of it are the first one's to cross the line on the major violations.
