Alabama was looking like they were going to really hurt themselves waiting so long to make a hire when they hired Saban. They had an average recruiting class that year in the transition, at least by Bama/Saban standards, but in the long run it didn't seem to hurt them very much.

but with Coach O back on board (recruiting), his pop (defense), possibly Norm Chow and the level of talent that USC can pull every year, he should be able to not screw it up. I don't believe in coaching genius. When good coaches have good players, they field good-to-great teams. I would've been interested to see what TN would've looked like 2-3 years from now.
