Looks like Ole Miss will live to fight another day. UTEP just gave this game away with all those turnovers and missed free throws.

but no wonder it was a close one. Had Les had an off week, it would have been woodshed time.

we could use that phrase twice this year about two different sports? What is their baseball team ranked?

that everyone had faith in our football team.

I think outsiders have a much higher opinion of our team than our fans. Most of us think we are a borderline tourney team. We certainly aren't a top 25 team.

I think y'all finish better than us there this year and next at least. Baseball, hell if I know. I'll come over here talkin **** if we're any good, but sadly I have no clue if we will be, or if MSU will be. Football, the way Nutt and Mullen are recruiting (both of them average at best in the SEC) I think we'll trade wins the next few years, and overall records will be similar, although we have a head start and an easier OOC schedule.

Why is Ole Miss overrated? Because they get down, and have the guard play to make big runs? The fact is these are wins, no matter how you slice it. Overrated is a team that starts ranked 16th, gets blown out by Rider, and loses to Richmond. The same Richmond team that got run off the court tonight by South Carolina.

So, we beat a pretty good UTEP team by 10, on a neutral court, and are overrated. You win at home against Wright State by 11, and it's a good win? I definitely see the logic there.

The fact is I think both teams are Top 25 teams, but you can't stop your hatred of Ole Miss long enough to admit that this is a pretty good team, still young, that will continue to get better. You seem to forget the fact that there isn't a senior that is an integral part of this team.

2 nobodies and a "pretty good UTEP team" according to you), and we're a top 25 team? Justify it. I certainly can't. Actually, I think we kind of suck in an underachieving way and will probably fold come SEC play.

And got it done all three times......miracle? I see it more as a trend that this team can close. I tell you what......go to the selection committee in March and see if they give a **** how this game was won, or only IF it was won.

Because of that, at times, we have found ourselves in difficult circumstances. In the end we have won those "miracle" games due to superior talent. Time will tell whether AK will have it figured out before we hit the conference schedule.

Ole Miss has a pretty good team, but let's get real here. The last 2 games you have had the oppossing teams do some pretty stupid stuff in the closing minutes to get ole miss back in the game

we've been a severe disappointment. But for OM to be ranked 20 just means no one is really keeping up.

to dogging state when the topic is ole miss. I never said anything about Wright State being a great win.

that's great that you won,but anyone really paying attention to these games (like jackstefano) would know this is not a top 25 team right now.

Agree. We're definitely not a Top 20 team right now. We have the potential to be that good if we can figure out our rotation and fix a few things that are fixable.

As someone else said, we're still relatively young, with only one senior on the team, and the majority of our players are primarily in their first or second year of real D-1 time.

We should get better. Will we fully reach our potential this year? I don't know, but we should be a tourney team either way. If we're playing like this for the entire SEC season, we'll struggle some, but at the same time, we should be playing better by the middle of SEC play.

ETA: The good news is we haven't taken any bad losses yet while trying to get the team chemistry down. Regardless of how we won, they still count as wins for RPI and for the selection committee. Right now we've really got 3 groups of players that are trying to come together and form roles. You have Gaskins, Warren, and Polynice who played significant time in 07-08 together, but didn't really play in 08-09 (Warren only played the first 11 games). You have White, Henry, Holloway, and Cranston that played in 08-09 without the previous 3. Then you add Buckner and Riley as incoming players that haven't played with either group. Zach Graham is the only player we have that's played with two of those groups in both 07-08 and 08-09. I think a lot of our issues right now are chemistry related. White and Warren in particular have both been THE guy on separate teams. Now they have to come together in the same starting line up. One of them is going to have to be the No. 2 guy. It's a good problem to have, but we're still working out the kinks of settling on a rotation and having those players understand what the others are doing.

When you look back at our team that lost to Valpo as a 4 seed, they basically had the same starting line up for 3 straight years with similar role players coming off the bench. That's why they were so good. This year's team is more talented than that one, but we don't have the chemistry, so we likely won't have that same level of seed.

I would agree that Ole Miss is not a top 20 team RIGHT NOW.

But, with the way the team has played this year, the results (read: record) justify the ranking (9-1 with the loss to 'Nova).

I certainly think we have the ability to be a top 15 team.

we were in control of that game the entire game, up by over 10 pretty much throughout. OM was down 10 with 5 minutes to go and had to have another great comeback to get the victory. You very easily could have just lost to USM and UTEP and this is what makes you over-rated. Get it?

Again, ask the selection committe in March if they remember that Ole Miss was down 15 to McNeese, and 12 to UTEP. Fact is, wins are what will matter.

I ask you this.....who after Ole Miss in the polls is better? They've beat a team ranked ahead of them by 10. Lost to a top 10 team by 12 on a neutral court. Beat Indiana worse than UK did. Ole Miss is trying to figure the best lineups, and I think AK finally sees that this is the 4 guard look.

Jack hasn't seen **** compared to what I have seen....I have seen every game this team has played this year. Every one. I saw two preseason scrimmages. I know how good this team is, and they are going to get better. Call it what you will, but to say they are overrated, when they have two wins against teams that will in the the NCAA tourney, and one more possibility(Indiana), I don't call that overrated.

Is it not possible that Ole Miss did some pretty stupid stuff last night to blow a 12 point lead themselves earlier in the game and actually let UTEP into a game they weren't even in? Hell, I don't know and I don't think we're a top 20 team right now...but why is is that the last 5 minutes of the game are the only time you can blow it?
