This painfully highlights how bad our video and production departments are. I dont know if its an equipment thing or a personell thing or both... But we've never put anything out with that kind of quality.

But seriously--why don't we hire him? Is there some issue between him and the AD from when they took his videos down? Hire the man!

Team has been taking quite a few bullets recently, but if this recruiting class holds up, and they can keep up the energy, they'll be rolling through the East.

I've been to Neyland, and it's size is impressive, but the concessions suck, the walkways are too narrow and the campus is bizarre --packed with dilapidated buildings and cheezy retail outfits like carwashes and 24 hour **** & Git gas stations. It's hard to tell where the big, dirty urban city ends and the campus starts.

Yep

If only our videos were mediocre, it would be a vast improvement. Hire Derek Cody!
It has gotten to be that every aspect of the football program is mediocre at best. I, honestly, don't understand the infatuation with subpar video and promo production. Our Athletic department is light years BEHIND what most programs have. And yes, Derek Cody would have been a huge HUGE step forward for us in this area. But EMCC...EMCC hired him while our AD sat on his hands and I guess was ok with the 3rd grade level crap our video production unit puts out.

These kind of things cannot be that hard to do. They just can't. Amateurs put together better videos than ours everyday on Youtube. It's embarrassing.

I mean, look at just a few minutes of this:

You'd think that an athletic department that otherwise is good with social media--especially the stuff Bob is doing--could see this is a problem. (I will grant that out in-game videos are much, much better this year.)

Derek Cody is out videography Hud. And while I am not yet on the fire Mullen bandwagon, I'm definitely on the fire the video guys bandwagon.

You know the want-to-be-ninjas strategy... Do the opposite of what the people expect. Great strategy.

Penny Loafer doesn't want to spend the money. The 1000's of dollars it would take to produce a spot like that would take away from the budget to make hair swirling videos. I can promise you this, Stricklin is getting what he pays for.

WE could have better video spots, we just need a Mercedes dealership to open up in Louisvull and buy lots of ads on the Buzzkillotron to pay for it.

Guys like him are a dime a dozen. Its more about having the right equipment and software that makes these quality looking videos. Just buy the **** and hire someone.

Video fail

Cody screwed himself by ripping of intellectual property of his former employer, using it under his name for personal purposes then getting his panties in a wad when the group - the SEC/MSU- that controls those rights demanded he play by the same rules everybody else does.

There are only a few people in the 39759 that can do high level video work. He's not one of them. And those few folks may not be up to the task MSU has in front of it for doing stuff for the sec network.

It takes more than computers and a couple of cameras to make decent content. It does take a bit of talent. There ain't much of that in the triangle of gold.

Could it be this guy?

And if there's not a guy currently in the 39759 that can do it, surely one could be hired. Why limit yourself to just a single zipcode?

A team from Meridian that produced this video ( http://youtu.be/lQo_N7zRceE ) shot footage at the Kentucky game and has been working on an Egg Bowl teaser video that features music by Tony Pasko, who does the music for Duck Dynasty. It should be good.

Wow... that was a little bit of a low blow. I've never claimed to be the best at any of this, but I damn sure try to do what I can. If I'm good enough, fine, I'm not good enough. I never was trained, didn't go to school for any of this stuff, I'm still learning how to do a lot of it.

But I will tell you this and I don't mind putting it like this either. I'm kicking Mississippi State's *** at a JUCO. With only one person helping. Can they do better than me? Absolutely. Do they? No.

The stuff I put out while I was at WCBI was just for fun... there was no personal gain. All it did was make me think there was something I could do after TV (because I was tired of it). I got upset because I felt like I got singled out for the same thing that THOUSANDS of people try to do. I've said what I did was probably not the best way to go about it. I was just playing around and creating some excitement.

But again, people like me are a dime a dozen. There are way too many people around more qualified and more talented than me. I'm just doing what I can with what I have and hope that it takes me somewhere.
