Curious as to how/why somebody would choose to be a sidewalk alumn of UVA. As as been pointed out by many and especially Cowherd your football is a complete joke. If I were not affiliated with a VA school but wanted to choose one it would be VT no questions asked. What do you get out of being a sidewalk fan of UVA? Baseball is very recent, hoops and football are garbage. Oh and you sidewalk alumns are not qualified to speak on behalf of the school's academics if you didn't actually attend. That's ********. We give the Bammers grief but at least their sidewalk crowd is in it for the right reasons. If Harvey Updike were to go on about the merits of UA Law it would be nearly as embarrassing as poisoning a tree.

Having lived in Virginia for the last 14 years ...

Curious as to how/why somebody would choose to be a sidewalk alumn of UVA.

Noticed that VA Tech has way, way more 'sidewalk' fans than UVA. Makes sense when comparing success of programs in football. This also explains a large numbers of college fans across the country. They only thing that matters is that they are winning.

My wife graduated from the University of Miami in the '74 - '77 timeframe. Think they averaged 3 wins a year, had massive coach turnover and few fans in the seats. They even voted whether to go to Div II or to totally drop football. Years later, when she spotted someone with a U shirt or jersey on, she would go up and ask what year they attended. It didn't take too long for her to realize that most of the "fans" couldn't find Coral Gables on a map ... but hey, they were now 'winners.'
