Here are five things we did at VA this past week: 1: We identified hundreds of wasteful contracts for cancelation that will allow us to redirect billions back to Veteran health care and benefits (we will be making an announcement about this soon)!
2: We reached 1 million disability claims processed for FY25 on Feb. 20.
3: Today, we welcomed thousands of employees across the nation back to the office as part of our return to in-person work policy.
4: I launched a review of VA’s community care practices so we can maximize Veterans’ health care choices (more on this in the future)!
5: I met with members and leaders of Veterans Service Organizations, including
@IndyFund
and
@DAVHQ
. Under

is putting Veterans first, and there will be many more successes moving forward!

I don't mind cutting if cuts are needed , I'm all for it . But cutting vets is counter productive. Maybe the only job they can do and working is more than money for those men/women.

Dude. Trump just said he wants those cuts to be at minimum. Collins is reporting what he's actually cutting. Creating a job that's not essential and they aren't accomplishing there real mission isn't the way to fix the system. The best thing Trump actually did during his first term was allow Veterans to go see a private Doctor. There's alot of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse in the DOD too. I love them but it's got to be addressed. Our Country is going Bankrupt.

Obama created Government jobs. This was unacceptable if the goal is to take care of Veterans. Which is what the mission statement is.

I don't mind cutting if cuts are needed , I'm all for it . But cutting vets is counter productive. Maybe the only job they can do and working is more than money for those men/women.

If a government employee is being paid taxpayer dollars and that job position is unnecessary, the position should be cancelled and the employee terminated. Whether the employee is a veteran or not is irrelevant.

If this was a USAID employee, we wouldn't care if the employee was a veteran. I see no difference.

It comes down to Mission Accomplishment. It can't be the Governments job to create jobs for everyone. However the VA has a mission and taking care of Veterans must be a priority if you don't want to end up drafting people. So cuts definitely need to happen because there's alot of Fraud, waste, and abuse. It needs to be efficient while still accomplishing the main goals of it's existence. That's going to take some work. Less boots on the ground in wars that drag on forever where we will never change hearts and minds will save money longterm too. Sometimes war is inevitable and we need to choose more wisely before getting involved but when we do end it quickly with unconditional surrender instead of dragging it out.
