Only one team in the top five from A&B in the VaPreps poll? What algorithm is coming up with that? SOS and other data doesn’t say that or at least my analysis of it wouldn’t support that. I appreciate the effort that goes into it though so let the disputing begin.

@uvacavs1, your poll is more balanced but in my opinion has PH too high and has just a smidge of homer to it, having Northumberland over Galax.

Here’s mine for what it’s worth:
Riverheads
Chilhowie
Galax
Franklin/Northumberland
Narrows
Rappahannock/CB
PH
Essex-can’t drop them but they ain’t winning either.

WmCampbell is worth bringing up cause most 1A teams couldn’t handle the schedule they play. Dangerous if they get focused.
GW is another one that is being overlooked that can get hot and make noise. How loud depends on whether they are ready to get the basketballs out or strap up and knock heads.

Fair enough but they aren’t playing to the level we have all come to expect. Right, wrong or indifferent, we have seen very dominate teams out of Essex for years and this doesn’t seem like that kind of team. I am a big believer that they can and will make a run in the playoffs. Just opinion anyway since fortunately for us all, the games are decided between the lines.

Looks good.

As for Northumberland over Galax, I figured that my raise some eyebrows. 1st time this season, I have moved NHS above Galax. I can assure you, I considered all options.

Nothing but respect for the coaching at Galax, but they may be the ones a tad bit overrated. Sorry, no Spurlin type player this year...

Should be an exciting finish.

I absolutely see what you are saying about Patrick Henry. I considered placing Franklin and Essex for example over them.

However, PH is 7-0 and have done everything asked of them. They deserve, in my opinion, to remain in the Top 5 until defeated.

Reminds me of the University of Central Florida - no respect and all they do is win.

They have a Spurlin type player in Barnes who led the team in tackles as a freshman but they're moving him all over the place on defense this year which is hurting his numbers but when they leave him in the middle you will hear his name called non stop for being in on the tackle. Galax has more overall talent as a team this year than they have had for a while but they have not been playing to their capabilities as of late. If they get their act together and start playing like they are capable of they will be a tough out but time will tell if that happens.

Barnes in the middle will make good sense. Also would like to see Hawks some in the middle with his size and good speed for his size.

You are right about Hawks, if you had him and Barnes in the middle it would be scary. Even with his size he one of the fastest players on the team.

Your kid 24 should be the backer beside of Barnes. That kid has a great football awareness about him and a better athlete. He reacts much better. Leave the hawks kid where he is at outside. On another note the kid that was a freshman that Galax rode through the playoffs last year. Doesn't show a carry in the stats is he only playing D this year? I know Galax has a phenom in Brown and number 5 is great as well. I saw where the Barnes kid had a ton of yards last night. Are they just saving the afore mentioned kid?

He has had a ankle problem most of the year but I think it is getting better and Ashworth has played inside some, they move him around some like they do Barnes.
