The private university in Indiana, which is affiliated with the Lutheran Church, said the Crusader name could be associated with “aggressive religious oppression and violence.”

So a private institution no longer wants to be associated with oppression and violence in the name of Christianity, and we’re supposed to be upset by this? I applaud them from separating themselves from that imagery. If there are any private institutions out there called The Witch Burners, The Blasphemer Beheaders, or The Alterboy Rapers I hope they follow suit.
Your forgetting that Conservatives want to be able to be ******** just because they can’t without any regard for how it effects another human being. If that means glorifying warmongers and violence in the name of God then that’s just the way it has to be.

That was certainly a very well thought out and well written post, it literally makes absolutely no sense as written.

His normal schtick. He hates conservatives, especially baby boomers and has said so in many post. He does not like old people. He has that push granny off the cliff attitude.

During last month’s deadly siege at the U.S. Capitol, white supremacists brought with them their variant of the Crusader cross,

I have family that are alums. That school has been headed down this road for along time.

They will eventually disavow all forms of the cross.

Why stop there? Christ teachings are offensive to a lot of people. Just get to your endgame and go full judas.

The Muslim alum that was quoted said it was a long time coming. He would also be offended that Christians view Christ as the Son of God and not just a prophet.

The crowd that looks for any reason to be offended. Have to say, had to look up their reasons this time as they are reaching as always.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/11/sports/valparaiso-drops-crusader-mascot.html

The private university in Indiana, which is affiliated with the Lutheran Church, said the Crusader name could be associated with “aggressive religious oppression and violence.”

The university, whose name is frequently shortened to Valpo, adopted the Crusader as its mascot in 1942, a nod to the Christian conquests of the Holy Land from the 11th century to the 13th century that pitted European invaders against Muslims. The mascot costume features a suit of armor, a helmet and a shield.

“Unfortunately, the Crusader and its symbols related to the Crusades have been embraced and displayed by hate groups,” Ms. Irwin-Knott said. “In fact, a newspaper of the K.K.K. carries the name The Crusader, and this is not something we want to be connected with Valparaiso University in any way.”

During last month’s deadly siege at the U.S. Capitol, white supremacists brought with them their variant of the Crusader cross, which has become popular among the racist and anti-Semitic fringes. It was not immediately clear if that element of the attack had contributed to the university’s decision to retire the Crusader as its mascot.

“Mascots are intended to help us show our school spirit and represent Valpo values, rather than be divisive and symbolize negativity,” Ms. Steinhiser said. “There has been a growing concern from students on campus about how the current Crusader mascot represents us, as well as how it may impact prospective students’ views of our university.”
I feel dumber having read this entire thing. The Crusades were a counter measure to the violent spread of Islam. But of course if you criticize Islam you’re a POS racist Islamophobe.

If they were the Valparaiso Jihadis these liberal *** clowns wouldn't bat an eye.

How much longer do I have to wait for the pendulum to swing back so we can have some sanity and decency?

How many of y’all who are upset about this would be OK if a school was named the Jackson University Jihadists?

Similar ****. Different god. Or is one OK because ot represents the most common god in this nation?

What if you think killing people over religion is the dumbest thing on Earth no matter what faith the perpetrators are a part of?

You’re forgetting the basic tenant many Christians live by: the Bible doesn’t apply when what it says is in violation of what they want.

The problem is the people who are upset over crusaders would NOT be upset by that nickname.

If they would cancel that nickname too then you'd have a point. We both know damn well they wouldn't. THAT is the issue.

My guess is that the "crybaby conservatives" wouldn't be upset if this was the first time this had happened but your whole liberal cancel culture is getting rid of anything that hurts someone's feelings and it is out of control. It's a derailing train that just seems to be gaining momentum and that is what makes people mad. It didn't start with the crusaders and it won't end there either.

Utter ********. Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and facist Italy literally tried to destroy the world less than 100 years ago and they are well respected and productive members of the world community today. And you want to justify Islamic extremism on something that happened many centuries ago? OK. LOL. Your agenda is not only showing, but glaring.

It not an agenda, it's a lack of intelligence and believing Wikipedia and Reddit are great sources for the truth.

The biggest whining crybaby snowflakes in society are conservatives. Go cry some more about it.

Re-brand them the Valpo Taliban.

That puts them on what academic progressives would consider the right side of 13th Century history, which seems important to them. And the Islamic extremists of that day are pretty much unchanged since then (as is the rest of the culture in the Muslim Middle East) and represented by the Taliban.

The Crusades are by far the biggest reason why all the religious conflict has been occurring in the Middle East for over a thousand years and were the catalyst for much of the extremist Islamic terrorism that has happened ever since.

And this turd ^^ had the audacity to bring up grammar mistakes in my post yesterday ? And he writes this ^^

This is not historically correct. In fact, it's a blatant lie.

well now I know you are just trolling. Typically they are the most arrogant and single minded people I know. They think they are too intelligent to believe in God and in turn think anyone who does are just uneducated people.
You sound a lot like a know it all for one to be complaing about others thinking they are too intelligent.
