These days you can't stockpile decent players. Probly should have stood pat with what we had. Similar to the WR room. Go ahead and sign a bunch. Then the best will leave for more money and the others will leave for playing time. See Coleman/Creed. Then what ya got ??

Announcement:

All starters transferring to SEC schools please turn in your playbook before leaving. Also, please don’t tell all of our plays….please.

Thanks

I think he did. Especially considering the price he demanded, the inconsistent play, the headaches he brings, and our resources & glaring needs elsewhere. Sign a decent backup cheap & spend what money we have on OL & DT.
What were the headaches? Does he have attitude problems?

Defense & rushing game lost that game. The one thing we did pretty well in that game was throw the ball. Hard for a QB to win it by himself when defense is getting shredded & RBs are getting stuffed.
Yeah, I can agree with that. Our D sucked all season.

He’s going there to ride the bench. Nussmeier will be the starter next year and then they’ll probably bring in another portal QB the following season. I doubt MVB ever gets much playing time at LSU.

But he is getting life changing money. Imagine finishing college with several million dollars to start off.

You assume he, and all of these other players, will finish college with all this money. Not many 18-19 year olds have that level of maturity to plan ahead. I'm betting 97% of them leave college with almost none of that money.

I wouldn’t lose a ton of sleep over this. For the price point he was asking, shake his hand and wish him the best of luck, and then take those dollars and get the best linemen you can (on both sides of the ball) and whatever defensive help you can get. That’s far more important to State right now. Go G5 or FCS route for a QB and roll.

I wonder how many will actually have a degree ?

In a game like that against such an inferior opponent, the QB has to but the team on his back and will them to victory - especially at home. No matter how bad our D played, Shapen put up 17 points on them. Had our D held them to 21, we'd still lost. SloMo put 21 on them.

No, we have to sign a starter. We can't go into 2025 expecting Shapen to start 12 games. We have to sign someone equivalent to Shapen, hopefully better. Hopefully, the incoming freshman QB will be as good as MVB.
