We’re close to ranked in AP. Frankly, I think getting ranked in the AP results in votes in the coaches because they see a team they didn’t vote for. We should be close in the AP after next weekend. 3-5 teams should fall out

I dont know. They’ve lost very close games to #4 and #10. I’d put them in my top 25.
I would too - we have 2 data points on them, and they've proven they're almost as good as 2 top 10 teams. That's good enough to be in the top 25.

I think Michigan, Missouri, and USC are all more questionable rankings because none of them have done anything impressive so far this season.

In all seriousness yes they are probably a Top 25 quality team and that will probably bear itself out. but them being ranked at 0-2 proves the point that polls this early are dumb. At this point it all is based on what we THOUGHT teams were in July and August and not what they’ve actually done. The sample sizes are way too small.

We think Miami and A&M are very good but what if they’re both average? We’ve seen this play out many many times before. Top 10 or Top 25 in September is absolutely meaningless.

Heck give us Miami and A&M, we could lose to them too if that’s what it takes to be ranked***
It's not just about win/loss record though. Notre Dame was very close to winning both of those games. Had they gotten blown out, they wouldn't be ranked.

I mean I get it. And ND plays one ranked team the rest of the season now, so entirely possible they still win 9 or 10 games. But the optics of them being ranked at 0-2 are still eye roll inducing.

Don't worry! If/when we beat Northern Illinois we will be ranked because we will play a ranked Tennessee the following week. TV executives love ranked opponents playing each other on Saturdays.

The polls have always been dumb. Used to be there was zero accountability, too, unless am individual writer chose to reveal how he voted.

The good news is, the polls really are meaningless now. All thst matters is the committee.

I am glad Clemson is out but I have a feeling they will work their way back in. South Carolina dropped like Arizona state.
