A few people have made the comments recently about Vandy losing a lot this coming football year - specifically Jordan Rodgers (because of his last name) and their RB Stacy (because he was drafted).

I would like to point out that Scout rated Jordan Rodgers a two-star (not-four) JUCO transfer. Stacy was a two-star recruit (209th of his position) out of high school. Vandy has been winning since Franklin arrived with predominately 2-star athletes. They were lucky to have 5 3-star athletes in a single recruiting class. Compare how their recruiting changed once Franklin took the job. In the backfield they have already Brian Kimbrow, a highly recruited RB from Memphis a couple years ago. This week they've received a commitment from Michael Wilbon's son Mikale Wilbon. The starting QB's brother is the #18 QB recruit and has committed to Vandy. All that to say: this ain't your daddy's Vanderbilt.

Here's a recap of their spring game.

Impressive. I didn't realize they'd come that far. Nashville should be an easy city to recruit to. Bears are their permanent East opponent, and need to be worried. Kentucky is starting to show signs of life in recruiting too, but not like Vandy.

Vandy is exactly where we are. They are much improved, have a chance to win every week, and will beat teams that are down in the league.

They still can't get over the hump against Florida, Georgia, or SC, just like we can't get over LSU or Bama. They also benefit by adding Mizzou, while we're adding A&M. Funny though, 4 years ago if you told me that, I'd have laughed if you said Vandy was getting the better deal.

Not only should Nashville be an asset for recruiting, having a Vanderbilt degree is pretty impressive. I would think academically qualified athletes would flock to the place.

I have no idea how Vanderbilt handles entry requirements for athletes, nor do I know if many of them actually attend the school. I have heard otherwise.

Mikale Wilbon is not Michael Wilbon's son (according to Paul Jones).
