In an odd twist Vandy is holding SEC opponents to 13 ppg (though both were home games) and OOC opponents have gone nuts on them for 31 ppg (the 2 higher scoring games were on the road).

While I would like to think we can score on Vandy I don't see us putting together more than maybe 3 scoring drives. Hopefully we can keep them out of the endzone as well. I'll be optimistic and say UK wins 17-6.

UK scores in each quarter, 3 TD's and a FG. Vandy scores in 2 qtrs, a TD and a FG. Cats take it by a final of....... 24-10.

A crappy South Carolina team was able to beat them at home so we have no business losing this game at all. Especially since it's pretty much a must win game. I'll say UK wins 24-13.

What is the mental blockage that keeps these defensive coaches from having even a average offense? Muschamp, Mason and Stoops all seem unable to put even a average offense on the field.

They have to study the offense in order to defend against it. Is it just lack of interest? Do they not even want to TRY to have a passable offense?

I got to watch Vandy against WKU and I was not impressed.

If the defense continues to play like they have, I look for a couple of take aways. If we stop the run and make them pass, we could easily come away with a couple of picks. Vandy's QB puts too much air under his passes and lofts them up there. Against WKU, there were about 2 or 3 that should have been picked.

Taking Cats 24-10

I don't disagree much of this, but I will say we have more talent on offense than we've shown, we just have an absolutely awful head coach. Derek Mason has tried to copy what Stanford has done out west (where he was DC), but he's too stupid to pull it off. We have a young QB with some talent (Shurmur), but the offense is too slow developing and plodding to see him doing what he's capable of. We have a couple of WR's that have some real talent in Lipscomb and Sherfield, but again, everything is slow developing and our scheme is easy to defend. We have a very talented group of TE's, but the OC doesn't do anything to get them the ball.

As you alluded to, Webb appears to be all we have and sadly, the proof is in the production. Ralph Webb is the real deal and our offensive line is pretty solid, so Webb gives us a chance to compete, but overall, we are dealing with a head coach and OC that have no real idea how to score points.

I think we are averaging 7.66 ppg against P5 teams...

Yikes..
If it makes you feel better, you'll score at least double that average against us. I just hope and pray that we win and continue to improve. I'm tired of starting over.

Both the teams that scored big on them had coaches that believe in running high octane offenses...MS does not.

Belief...running clock to keep the defense off the field instead of ATTACKING the other team...they All want low scoring "defense controlled" games.

I can speak for Muschamp or Stoops, but Mason just doesn't understand what it takes to win. He has this construct in his mind of how he wants his team to play, but I don't think winning is part of that construct. Mason is destined to be a DC again and that will start next year, dude just isn't cut out to be a head coach.

It could be the kiss of death if Vandy has to use a backup QB (I guess Vandy's starting QB got hurt somehow against UF). UK has a way of making backup QBs look like All American candidates. Hope the starter for Vandy is back...it's probably the only QB that the UK coaches planned for.

sort of a revenge game for Kentucky after the way we blew it in last year's game. Home game for CATS, who are playing better football now:

Vandy: 17
UK: 23

Kentucky loses either way. If we actually win, it helps bolster Stoop's case for another year and if we lose, well - we've lost to Vandy 2 years in a row.

Overall UK is the better team.

I'm not looking for a low scoring drudge fest, neither team's D is great, and in fact I think an ugly boring game favors Vandy because in those games the lesser team can win on a lucky bounce of the ball, a missed call, or late field goal.

A boring slop fest also means that our offense isn't clicking, and that is the one thing that gives UK the upper hand. I think our O and skill players can out run n gun vandy in a shootout.

I'm looking for a 40 - 28 offensive game.

Both teams come out and start lighting up the scoreboard at a record pace. They both score early and often, trading touchdowns on almost every possession. The final score ends up 52-45 to the home team.

Wait a minute, we're talking about Kentucky/Vandy aren't we? Make it 20-14 Cats.

It really depends on which UK team shows up on Saturday. I say 24-14 UK, but who knows with this group of players and coaches. I would not be surprised if Vandy wins either.
