has lost 26 SEC games in a row including 2 SECT losses. About to lose 27 in a row with a game at Rupp tonight. I know they've had two coaching changes and some injuries but wtf is going on with Vandy basketball? Even Rick Ray won some games. Vandy was a very tough opponent under Stallings. Absolutely hated playing them in that **** gym just a couple years ago.

I'm too disengaged from MSU basketball to know what the hell is going on at Vandy, but I've been baffled at that streak as well.

The thought that their obnoxious BB fan base is suffering gives me great pleasure. If they even care anymore.. they likely moved on the baseball to be obnoxious.

Vandy with an 8 point lead in Rupp at the half.

Boy, even at the most unexpected times, you have a knack for being wrong.

Good lord. It doesn't even seem possible a team could lose that many in a row.

I may be misremembering since I was just a young kid at the time, and haven't looked it up, but Vandy (along with State) both were very good teams in the 50s-60s. We still are, but Vandy seems to have backed off. Maybe they have trouble finding highly talented players who qualify for their academic standards. Or just don't consider it a big deal any more.

But you're right - they haven't won a conference game in almost two years. You'd think a random upset would happen more often.

Historically, Vandy has been above average in SEC basketball with a 675-613 record per Wikipedia. I saw what I thought were 2 of the worst SEC teams of all time when I was in school in Boyd's last team and Williams first one. But both of those teams managed to go 3-15 in the SEC. Vandy today isn't even close to that.

Bryce Drew burned that thing to the ground in 3 years. Which is pretty impressive. I do not see Jerry Stackhouse being able to turn it around.

The mini-trend of hiring famous NBA players with zero college coaching experience doesn't seem to be working out too well. Who ever could have seen that coming?**

Unless I'm missing a glaring example, the best one at this point is Penny whose preseason Top 15 team is currently firmly on the bubble.

Penny will be fine. He will be able to recruit the Memphis area to Memphis because of just who he is. Also, his AAU ties will allow him to recruit nationally as well.

I like Penny and hope you're right, but he likely won't ever get a better (on paper) class than he did this year. If *that* class translates to the NIT (which is still a big if at this point), I don't know why you'd be overly confident that future results will be much better.

To me, the big question about Penny’s program is going to be about how many of these kids he can convince to stay more than one year. He’s attracted nothing but top notch talent since arriving, so I don’t expect recruiting to ever be an issue. However, you can see how immature the Tigers are by watching 5 minutes of any game they play, and it’s gonna be tough sledding if he is constantly rebuilding with another crop of freshmen

To be honest, I don’t have any idea as to whether he’s gonna be fine or not, but I think we’ll no more after the upcoming draft. If he only loses Precious, I’ll feel good about his chances. If 2-3 of these other freshmen think they’re ready for the NBA, it’ll be another story

Perhaps he will continue to progress as a coach at the college level and that will impact future results?
I know, crazy idea, but just maybe.
