Wish a certain coach would learn from such competence..... oh well. He won't and we're stuck with this staff even though it obviously isn't working. Gotta love stoops stubbornness it's the main reason we're gonna suck next year. As long as Dawson is here we will never be good.

If you guys follow some of the coaching search accounts, you would know that many changes are on hold until after the bowl season...coaches get bonus' for bowls, they aren't going to hop into a new job before they grab that bonus in many cases. You also want to hit the recruiting dead period, so other coaches cant contact players about their recruiter getting canned.

Still seems likely that there will be changes on the offensive side of the ball.

Chill.

Looks like Mason has failed on every coach he's hired. Sounds more like desperation to me.

Have to lean towards this thinking as well.....if in only 2 years, you've purged 90% of the coaches you hand picked and brought on board with you...not ones that you might have decided to keep on from the previous staff....then this to me says you're not the best judge of talent and ability yourself and what would make anyone in the Vanderbilt fan base or athletic administration confident that THIS time you are making all the right choices.

I'm certainly in the majority that we need some changes on our own staff, but if we had cleansed and purged the whole org chart after 2 years, then I would have some even more serious doubts about Stoops and the program at large.

Change for the sake of change isn't always good.

Counter point to that is Vandy made one of the bigger forward jumps in college football this year (32 spot improvement in the F+ rankings). With one of the youngest teams in the country. And absolutely no offense to speak of.

He obviously made some big mistakes with his initial staff, but there are reasons for optimism in Nashville.

Jason has the correct read on this. Mason has shown that he'll adjust things to improve and each step seems to bring some improvement. Although the "star chasing" Franklin got the kudos for recruiting, the two highest rated players in Vandy history have been recruited by Mason. With his reputation as a an elite defensive coach, that side of the ball should continue to strengthen.

As to Mason's initial coaching hires, one should remember that Vandy played a very late bowl and Franklin didn't quit until several days after that so it wasn't easy to assemble a staff that late. Mason basically got leftovers and many think that impeded early progress (particularly on offense). Vandy expects next year to be a bowl season.

More then coach change on Offense I think we need direction and that decision needs to be made before Spring Practice if we are going to play some type Air Raid then Dawson needs to be in charge and that is what we need to run in the fall, like of an offensive identity caused many of the mixups in the games, if we are going to play a more conservative type ball then Maybe Dawson needs to be let go and maybe some of the other offensive coaches. We certainly need a Special Teams Coach.

Haha - awesome.

PS - Stoops said today changes will be made. Of course, now that he's doing what people said he wouldn't, there will be a complaint fest on not making the correct changes. ;-)

Rest assured somebody(s) will complain... it's not enough or why not that coach or this coach or whatever. Will happen.
