Vandy wants to prove they should be the CFP

I kind of agree that if Oklahoma and Alabama should be in, so should Vandy. (I realize this is a counterpoint to my 8 is ideal stance which the argument against would be that none of those should be in,)

My counterpoint to that is none of those 3 have much to complain about if they get left out. I don't feel any more sympathy for Vandy than I would for Oklahoma or Alabama. Or Miami for that matter. In Vandy's case, show me their best win. Missouri? Tennessee? Meh, that's not very good.

They shouldn't have lost to a mediocre 3 loss TX team and they wouldn't have to "prove" they belong
Fair point, but why does Alabama get to lose to a downright bad Florida State team? And lose at home to Oklahoma?

I personally don't like Vandy. But I also don't like seeing Bama get preferential treatment.

They did beat Georgia in Athens I guess. Oh well. Expand to 16, solve all this.

Vandy’s best wins are Tennessee and Missouri. Alabama and Oklahoma both beat those teams + had multiple other good wins (Bama: Vandy, UGA; OU: Bama, Michigan). Both of those definitely deserve to be in over Vandy

Then you will have to quit watching SEC football.

Expanding to 16 doesn’t solve anything, it just move the bitching and complaining down the poll a few spots. There’s always going to be more teams who seem deserving than there are chairs at the table.

Well Bama may just get left out if they lose the SECCG badly. Notre dame could get left out for byu and or Duke.

Vandy should be ranked ahead of Miami....but I like Vandys proactive approach.

I'm not a simp for Bama - it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were left out, but that loss was offset by some bigger wins than Vandy had.

At the end of the day, and someone else said it, anyone who gets left out can only blame themselves by losing games they should've won. Vandy could've beaten Bama, and they could have beaten TX. They lost both of those. Thanks for playing.

But then you're getting far enough down where 10-2 P4 teams are running out. Plus you're getting closer to correct % of teams making the playoff, like every other division.

I can already hear the committee chair: "We didnt punish Bama for losing their championship game; we dropped them for getting blown out and lowering their metrics."

And then expand to 32 to pacify the new complainers

Someone worthy will always get left out, because the seeding is subjective.
My point for a long time......... Until we have a computer formula with defined agreed-upon inputs weighted appropriately that will spit out the rankings, there will always be complaining. The Committee has to be taken out of the decision making......The Committee, however can determine the inputs with approval of the schools, but that's the limit of their involvement. And there can be as many, or as few, weighted inputs as deemed acceptable by the schools. Once the formula has been set for the coming year, the Committee can sit back and twiddle their thumbs watching the computer spit out the rankings every week if they want. Any of those whiz kids on Elon's DOGE group could do this in a few days.

Alabama got left out of the playoff last year and the fans pitched a fit. They probably won't get left out this year regardless of what happens Saturday.

But, if they lose DeBoer could be gone. Maybe Penn State's still waiting on that and if so, could Kiffin have a really short tenure at LSU?
