Was the running back that transferred in this year deemed ineligible? and if so, will Varina have to forfeit any games from the beginning of the season?

I don't think it's been settled yet I believe it's still under investigation. The transfer from Henrico I don't believe he played in any regular season games only scrimmage games. Whatever the case may be Varina will make the playoffs and use the last four regular season games getting ready for the five game stretch . Man that offense line and defensive line for. Varina dominate Grimsley at the line of scrimmage A few new teams will be in the 4B playoffs this year. Great job to the coaching staff and once again welcome back coach Scott .

He played in 2 regular season games. Varina isn’t in trouble with the VHSL. Henrico County Public Schools’ Residency Department is the one who deemed him ineligible and they run a tight ship.

If a proven ineligible player played in a contest, the hard and fast rule at the VHSL level is the game “shall be a forfeit.” It doesn’t matter who investigates it, who initiated the accusation, or anything else. If the player is ruled ineligible by League standards, any contest in which the student actually took an active part in “shall be forfeited.”

It would suck but rules are rules. If they do end up having to forfeit the William Fleming game, that would have massive playoff implications.
If they were to forfeit the William Fleming game The best scenario would be Varina ending the season 7 victories and three losses. The worst scenario would be Varina ending the season 6 victories and four losses that would get them in the playoffs. My opinion once in the playoffs Liberty University.

I think the top 8 for 4B are locked I don’t see any situation where someone gets jumped. Bottom 4 seeds can afford 4 loses or less and they good. Am I wrong ?

@KGBob, you are spot on. I guess Atlee or Powhatan could make a run if they win out, but what's the likelihood of that. I guess an upset loss to Hanover or Highland Springs could change things a bit. @acoles I received some Intel that QB1Caleb Wyche is wearing a boot. Tough break if it's true. He is the heartbeat of the offense and always has to be accounted for.

I think the moral to all of this (Varina, Hayfield, Fairfax, etc) is just to do things the right way. This jumping to the high school portal to load the deck doesn’t always equate to success/winning. In fact you see it fail more than work.
