He more than doubled his scoring average from his first two seasons to 18.9 points per game while leading Kansas to a conference title and the Sweet 16. </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(221, 221, 221); font-size: 8.5pt; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase;"> G Jerome Randle, California </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 8.5pt;"> The buzz: New coach Mike Montgomery got the best out of Randle, who led the Pac-10 in assists at five per game and finished second in scoring at 18.3 points. He's part of the reason the Bears will be the Pac-10 favorite next season. </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(221, 221, 221); font-size: 8.5pt; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase;"> F Da'Sean Butler, West Virginia </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 8.5pt;"> The buzz: Butler has blossomed under Bob Huggins, becoming a versatile weapon for the Mountaineers. He's a good frontcourt defender who averaged 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds last season. </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(221, 221, 221); font-size: 8.5pt; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase;"> F Lazar Hayward, Marquette </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 8.5pt;"> The buzz: Hayward didn't get many headlines for Marquette last season, but he will in 2009-10. He'll be the unquestioned leader for a team that lost four starters. He averaged 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(221, 221, 221); font-size: 8.5pt; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase;"> C Jarvis Varnado, Mississippi State </div> <div style="padding: 4px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-size: 8.5pt;"> The buzz: The Bulldogs will be a team to watch in the wide-open SEC West, thanks to the return of Varnado. He led Division I in blocks by a wide margin at 4.7 per game. He also averaged 12.9 points and 8.8 rebounds. </div>
