Addendum to the quoted part - it should end with "with Mississippi State obtaining one of those primetime Thursday matchups"

Now coaches can't play the, "Msu won't have much TV exposure", unless I just misread that blog.

because some games might be pay per view. But there will definitely be more basketball games on TV.

OK, I know this is considered a "minor sport" but will they cover baseball? I know that ESPNU shows some from around the country, and I don't think that they do very many, if any from the SEC until the SR's.

ESPN and ESPN2: A minimum of three regular-season baseball or softball games will be offered on ESPN or ESPN2 as well as three regular-season gymnastics matches. In addition, the conference championships in gymnastics, softball and baseball will be televised.

ESPNU: A minimum of 25 regular-season events annually will be televised, including baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, soccer, swimming and diving, track and field and others. ESPNU will cover all SEC Conference events not on ESPN or ESPN2, including swimming and diving, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field and women's soccer.

So, a "minimum" of 3 regular season baseball or softball games will be on the big boy networks of ESPN and ESPN2. Hopefully they'll show more than the minimum.

Also, it sounds like ESPNU will be likely be carrying a whole bunch of baseball games. Now it'll just depend on whether or not you get ESPNU. I'm still a Comcast customer, and as of now they don't offer it. I did hear earlier today though that a deal is being worked on. I think by 2009 it'll probably be on Comcast.

ESPN is every bit as interested in SEC women's gymnastics as it is with SEC baseball.

could Raycom or JP now pick up SEC Baseball? I realize there's not much demand for college baseball...but last time I checked, the CWS is televised by the ESPN family of networks.

College baseball needs more TV coverage. It is absolutely pathetic that sports like women's ____________ get more airtime than NCAA baseball.

Baseball will be distributed i bet. But when has Raycom broadcasted a baseball game? I know fox sports south(FSN) covers the SEC decently and if you have CSS you are in good hands.

now if all cable companies will carry all the espn networks on their basic package then things will be great.

lasting longer and becoming more frequent. ESPN gotta find the cash somewhere.

On a sidenote... I believe this is the underlying reason we are seeing, and will continue to see, efforts made toward speeding up the college game. With most networks scheduling a 3 hour slot per game, they've gotta increase the % of that 3 hours that is allotted for commercials. Follow the money.

you should hear all these doorknobs bitching bout having to play Georgia at 2:30 rather than at night...saying that may cost them the SEC West

has some of the best college baseball in the country. As a league, I bet the SEC has almost as many legit prospects as some of the minor leagues. Plus, the one thing the SEC has when compared to say the PAC-10 is good attendance and good facilities.

The women's sports get TV time because of political correctness.

they will set the game times according to their TV slots. LSU death valley night games may be severely hampered. unless they get the ESPN sat late night slot for every home game

And LSU has had the option to tell Raycom to go screw themselves if Raycom wanted to televise an LSU home game at 11:30, so the only day games at Tiger Stadium were the CBS national telecasts. Now that the 11:00 AM time slot will be an ESPN game (as well as all SEC home games not picked up by CBS), LSU won't have the leverage to turn down an 11:00 AM home game (or any other time slot ESPN wants to use).
