Why isn't he brought up for HC openings? Maybe it is and I'm just not paying attention?

$2M (I will accept that as fact). IF you look at his demeanor on the sidelines, he's more of a Bo type....meaning intense. Alot of times that demeanor is more suitable for a non head coach. Enjoy the ride at a national championship contender vs getting paid a little more and have a LOT more responsibility and headache.

Would you rather be considered one of the best at what you do and compensated appropriately or paid a little more and build and prove yourself in something that MIGHT work out. Coaches are very confident people but you also need to know your realistic capabilities and strengths. I think he's in a position to be very satisfied AND very picky.

Your first paragraph describes EXACTLY the way I kind of see him.

He's been mentioned for head coach openings going back to when he was at OU. I wondered for awhile why he never got any jobs, but at this point I think he seems to be a rare person who is just comfortable being a coordinator and doesn't really feel the itch to be a head coach.

He has interviewed a couple of times, so I am not sure he doesn't want it eventually. I just think the timing is different now, with a kid a Clemson. Maybe when he graduates, Venables will look to get a HC job.
