to get him to throw to 2nd after scooping up a grounder.. the correct play was elsewhere and there was heated discussion between a few coaches afterwards and a write up about it the next day..

the LSU coach said it is an unwritten rule that you don't do that... my guess is he's right ....

I couldn't help but think of the comment that someone said that "UMfans are lawyers & doctors & MSUfans drive tractors"

always funny to me

I doubt it. Not saying that it wasn't bush league at all. But, that and stuff like that picture is par for the course for college baseball.

If you have attended 3 innings of a UM game this year, you know their dugout is similar to a U10 girls softball team. I think they devote 20 minutes of practice each day to cheers/chants/dances.

At times this year Mississippi State did the same thing. It was one of the ways the guys on the bench stay in the game. They play games and do stuff just like what's pictured above. Just part of a 4 hour afternoon at the ballpark.

I'd like to see more stuff like that out of our team. As much I don't care for it on one level, it does boost team morale.

I would like to see more emotion in general out of the baseball team.

. . . I don't remember this level of dugout gayness back during some of our late 80's through the late 90's teams.

Winning will boost the morale. Acting out Richard Simmons-esque bowhunter at a baseball game? . . . not so much.

"dugout gayness"- LOL.

I agree with you that winning boosts morale much more than any chanting or dancing, and etc., and I'm not necessarily advocating that our players do dances and whatever else. But I do want them to show a little more emotion- a good fist pump every now and then or for them to at least look like they are having fun winning or when something good happens. I was just saying that if they did a dance or something, I would be happy to a degree because that would show me that they are at least trying to get into the game. By no means do I think that we should copy Ole Miss's dugout, but if I had choose a team to copy, it would be LSU. They really get into it emotion wise.

I think in the past we were more worried about looking "classy" that it took away from some of the joys of the game. It is possible to celebrate and not show anyone up. And if the other team thinks that we're classless, well so what?

I also agree with you about the dugout gayness being worse. It seems like every week two teams are having a dance off during a rain delay. It's not even "hey look at this!" worthy anymore.

we really had to gain or lose at that point in the season this year. I will say that Paul Manieri likes Cohen probably even less than Bianco does, and that probably escalated things a little bit. That and the fact that LSU was struggling really badly at that time. It seems a little odd to me that he would be so pissed off about it if it didn't really affect anything.

I don't think Mingione is totally innocent either- This is the second time an opposing head coach has had an issue with him- last year it was Nicholls State's coach.

It's because OM has the law school and medical school, and MSU is traditionally an ag school.

Although I agree that this dugout gayness by Ole Miss players is, well, gay... I don't think it is ever acceptable for an opposing coach to yell instructions in the heat of play to mess up the other team. I would have been pissed if an LSU coach would have done the same to our infielder, and would have expected Cohen to be ready to kick some ***.

Well it obviously couldn't have been an Ole Miss fan if that's where it took place.

There is no room for dancing and chanting in college baseball from inside the dugout. If our team starts shooting hand pistols in unison at the batter, I would fear that we caught a serious case of the gay. We dont want that. Baseball is a classy game, and I am a fan of keeping it that way. That kind of stuff is fun when you are 7, but it is very immature when you are 21.

And yes, I know our football did the DPR. But football is a different beast.

about the coach yelling "2". This happens a lot and is not that big of a deal. i would not do that type of thing in a high school game but at higher levels this happens all the time. In fact, if you watch a braves game and they lay down a bunt with a man on first you ALWAYS hear bobby cox yelling "2" from the dugout. and i doubt bobby cox does much that is considered bush league. </p>
