Plus she's engaged to Greg Newsome. Each of their children should be offered an NU athletic scholarship at birth!

I watched the game on the ACC network. Cats were down big in the second quarter and it looked like Clemson were on a roll, but the defense picked up and VB took over.

Go to WRA and watch her. She is a generational talent. You won't see another Veronica-like player at NU. A real treat to watch.

I can see her having a long and successful career in the WNBA. We really need to have dibs on her and Greg’s offspring!!

'Women knock off Badgers by 12. Veronica had her usual stuffed stat sheet including 19 points lots of assists, several rebounds, steals etc. 'Cats were still without Sydney Wood. Burton did not take many shots from the field, but she was 12 for 12 from the line.

Surefire future NU Hall of Famer - her family is sure well-represented there!

Also no Lauren Satterwhite. Started 3 first years, which makes me more optimistic for next year when Burton is gone. Late in the game McKeown put in Burton, Daley, and 3 deep benchers including Anna Morris because the starters were blowing it. They did well to stem the tide, starters came back in and finished it out. Also hopeful for the future, and I was happy to see Morris contribute.

It was an ugly game, but a win is a win.

Well, not really. Daley played a lot and was 3 for 13 from the field. Morris played a little over three minutes and took one shot from the field which she made. Burton played most of the game and kept the margin comfortable by going 12 for 12 from the line. Not sure who the deep benchers were that you are talking about other than Morris. The person who stemmed the tide, as you say, was VB.

Morris has been hurt and just cleared to play for today's game. Unfair to characterize her as a "deep bencher".......

Agreed. I was just responding to mekCat, who said 3 deep benchers came in to stem the tide. Morris only played 3 minutes plus, and I hope she contributes much more in the future. I do have to say, though, that thus far she has been a bit disappointing so for given her high rating.

I don't recall who the 3rd player was, just that the announcers mentioned that it was very unusual for the coach to have 2 starters (VB and Daley) and three subs who had played very little in the game in at that time.

I think it was McWilliams, Morris, and Ademusayo. Deep benchers might not be the right word.

Whatever, the three you mentioned did nothing to "stem the tide" as you suggested. They scored a total of 4 points among them, committed a few fouls and didn't do much else to speak of. Hopefully all will be contributors in the years to come. However, Veronica Burton won this game for us, period

VB keeps rolling as NU beats up on Delaware. Oregon game will be a chance for her to really showcase her skills.

Probably not. The very tippy top women are physical freaks, in a good way. Too bad Oregon was cancelled, would have been a good measuring stick.

I'm content with her being a top B1G player and one of NU's all time greats.

I imagine she’ll have a successful career overseas if she so desires.

Whatever happened to Lindsey Pulliam? I know she got cut after being a first round pick. Did she end up playing anywhere?

I agree. She's a great athlete, but her 3 point percentage is not very good, and she shoots it more like a set-shot than a jump-shot. Pulliam's 3 is more a jump-shot, and she didn't make it in the WNBA. In my opinion, though, Veronica belongs in the NU Hall of fame without question. Also, by all accounts, she's a wonderful person of very high character. It would not surprise me if, after graduation, she married her millionaire fiance Greg Newsome and lived happy ever after.

And she will have babies who each receive athletic scholarships from Northwestern. We need another generation of Burtons
