compliments of BDJ: "There is a chance I make my decision later this month," said Broadway, who threw for 1,257 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. "I am going to visit Houston on July 20th and then go to Mississippi State's camp a few days later. Once I get through with those trips, there is a chance that I make my decision after Mississippi State's camp."

I understand that recruiting rankings aren't the gospel, but it sure would be nice, and a welcome change, to land a 4* QB in back-to-back classes. And Cameron Newton is still on the board as well.

Quarterback Terrance Broadway of Capitol, ranked No. 2 on my list, appears to be leaning to Mississippi State and will probably make a decision before the start of the 2009 high school season.

2. Terrance Broadway (QB), 6'2", 205, 4.5, Capitol. In 2008, Broadway did not play in the last two games of the regular season because of an injury. In eight games, Broadway completed 92 of 142 passes for 1,260 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 240 yards on 20 carries for a 12.0 average and three touchdowns.

From his Soph season:

(Soph): He was an Honorable Mention All-State, All-Metro, and All-District selection. Completed 214-of-362 passes for 3,255 yards with 24 TDs and 15 INTs. Ran for 774 yards and 12 TDs on 60 carries.

Broadway reports a 3.5 core GPA and an 18 ACT. He says he's ranked No. 1 in his class and will likely be the valedictorian when he graduates.

Dandy Don says he played in 8 games last year, but I've heard it was fewer. The number difference in the two years would lean that way.

Get him and Newton this year and then go after Miller at IAHS next year and we'd have the best QB tandem in our history.

When's the last time we got the #2 ranked player in La?

injury. I'll see if I can find where I read it, but I was thinking he only played 5-6 games.

did not play Week 1 last year and may not have played week 2 due to Gustav. He took Parkview Baptist to the limit last year and they are a VERY good (John Curtisesque) program. I'll take him for sure. Not sure how much he's getting coached though, so he will probably be very raw.

3.5 GPA with an 18 on his ACT and he's expecting to be the valedictorian? Am I missing something here?

Regardless, I really hope we get him. I don't care about his grades, but that must be one hell of a dumb high school.

A few years ago, Lanier couldn't have a Mr Lanier because none of the guys in the senior class had above a 2.5. Don't ever underestimate urban high schools. A 3.5 could easily probably be valedictorian at a few in Jackson.

that means he would have 0.5 at JA or Jackson Prep.
