Very Interesting Analysis - Why Recruiting Rankings Matter

From this article, I would think that Mississippi State under Mullen is playing to par, so to speak, based on their ability to attract recruits. Ole Miss is indeed under performing relative to their average annual recruiting ranking. LSU, Bama and Auburn are also playing to par.

As always, you can make numbers say anything but it is interesting. My takeaway is that without big time athletes, you will not become a big time program. Period.

I would love to see a deeper dive that takes into account attrition due to academics, transfers, coaching stability, and gang rapes (I'm looking at you James Franklin), etc.

Thoughts?

This is interesting...

Apparently there's a lot of talent wasted at Ole Miss. I'd say "poor fellas" - but they get what they want there apparently. A chance to be a diva on "The World's Most Greatest Campus With The World's Most Beautiful Girls In The Best Conference Ever" before moving to the NFL - or maybe make a practice squad hopefully.

Seriously though - this article was posted to say "Recruiting Matters"??? Is Ole Miss the only one in the 4-star group to never win their conference or play for a conference championship??

Hang a Banner, dude. Hang it high. And by God, be proud of the talented individualists you get to grace that artificial field. After it's hung, be sure to put on a bowtie and your best blazer, say a prayer to Freezus, and then go stick your waving bangs deep down into a big bucket of turds (just remove your Costas first, bruh).

Sometimes we put to much faith into statistics. I read an article in Wired magazine on this (Quants). In weather, computer prediction models are fairly accurate (think Scout, Rivals, etc.). But, they increased these by 25% using people to "enhance" forecasts. Let's hope that Coach Mullen is doing something similar.

But, it would be kind of cool to hire an ex-NFL scout to help the coaching staff. Just to see if it makes a difference.
