Seems so.I perused a ruval board, there is no optimism there.
Same here, I think.
At least it should be a close game... or at least we're not going to get blown out. Maybe we blow them out?
Sounds like Beamer's "we'll be in the playoffs next year" comment. All good points... except that the season won't really be "salvaged" with a win. It'll suck less because we beat Clem, but not going to a bowl in this era is a HUGE fail. Especially for an $8.1 million coach. The game is shaping up to be one of those games that will probably be competitive and passionate and really mean nothing to anyone outside of either fan base. Clemson is bowl eligible and is playing for a better bowl and for the rivalry. SC has no hope of a bowl and this game could be the season defining win.
I think Clemson has more to lose in this game. Being 6-6 and going to a bottom feeder bowl for a team that was top 5 to start the season and whose coach boasted about being "the first team to go 16-0" and losing to your biggest rival who would not even become bowl eligible by beating you would be gut wrenching. 7-5 isn't a lot better, but they would have the win in their big rivalry game to be happy about and would likely get at least a warm weather bowl.
South Carolina can play much looser, with "house money" so to speak. A loss doesn't really make the season much worse but a win salvages an otherwise abysmal season. There is no bowl to consider, so SC can put everything into this game.
Beamer is probably pretty uptight about this game. His continued employment could hinge on the outcome.

Going to a crap bowl with a 6-6 record as an ACC team who played Furman and Troy as out of conference games and lost to a 7 loss South Carolina team isn't much to be proud of if you are a Clemson fan. I don't think you will hear much out of them at all if we win.If we win, we'll get to claim bragging rights, but the Clemson folks can claim that they're at least going to a bowl and we're not, so it kind of evens out. We don't even get to play spoiler since they're already bowl eligible.
Yep, and "hire Furrey asap-the players said to keep him"Beamer has until next year to worry about his playoffs comment. Dabo is munching on his words every day now.
Watch, if we win, there will be plenty of folks crowing about how Beamer has "turned things around" and how he "finished the season strong". He'll be back in everyone's good graces again.
Maybe I heard and have forgotten, but I saw where Lorenzo Ward is on staff at Clemson. Let's hope he has a hand in the D.
Well, not mine. As long as he keeps up the thin-skin act when questioned about the team's shortcomings and then is a smug jerk when we win a big game, he will not be in my good graces. I value humility - in wins and losses. Great coaches demonstrate humility. Posers are hype machines.Beamer has until next year to worry about his playoffs comment. Beamer and Dabo are almost like twin sons of different mothers. They are almost eerily similar in personalities.Well, not mine. Spurrier, Saban, even Kirby. They're not like Beamer/Dabo.
Beamer is the ''younger twin'' trying to outdo his older brotherBeamer and Dabo are almost like twin sons of different mothers. They are almost eerily similar in personalities.
