NFL contracts are much different from other professional sports because they're not totally guaranteed. The 40 mil is the definite number while 100 mil is the total value of the contract and most likely can only be attainedby playing the entire 6 years and getting every bonus and performance incentive put into the deal. Not a bad payday at all though.

it's not that bad. Vick makes a hell of a lot more impact than Fitzgerald. If he plays near his level last year, it's a bargain. If he goes to jail again, bad move. He led all QBs in fantasy points (obviously that doesn't mean everything, but still) even after missing like 4 games.

I actually expect a decent season from Fitzgerald, FYI.
