they were paid vs what they produced, you could draft a whole new starting offense and prosper. These guys that have some very prosperous years early on and then coast into retirement are getting old. When are the owners going to realize that you pay them conservatively in the early years to prove that they are worthy, reward them VERY HANDSOMELY in their productive years and then pay them accordingly in their twilight years? These contracts that have been tossed about this year for Manning and Brady are way more than they have made in their earlier years, yet, they are on their way out. Yeah, I'm an old hard ***, but, I come from where you produce you are paid, you don't you hit the road. Hope Moss has to hitch hike back to wherever he gets traded.
Edited to say that I realize that Manning and Brady are STILL great QB's and better than most in the league, BUT, how many more years do they have vs what is being thrown at them. They are the exception, rather than the norm, as opposed to some of the others that hang around and continue to sign contract after contract with team after team and never produce anywhere near what they have in the past. Ask Minnesota if Favre has been worth $14 mil this year? Last year, he obviously peaked and I know its a gamble but damn, look at the $$$ and load their contracts with incentives.
