The Ky fanbase is of 2 minds.
Basketball mindset. We made the sweet 16, next year we'll be in the final 4.
Football mindset. We were 10-2 last year. We'll never be that good again.

Will CMS introduce some discipline this year.
Imo...holding players accountable for stupid penalties and overall poor on field behavior has been lacking.
This is on the head coach, and honestly an easy fix......
Good luck Cats, and best wishes for a fine college football season....
I remember Dane Key drawing a 15-yard penalty right in front of stoops. If I recall Key shoved an opponent after the play was over. Stoops didn't do anything at least while the camera was on him. The Stoops that I thought I knew should have lost his ****. Can you imagine a player picking up a 15-yard penalty like that in front of Nick Saban? That player would have been crying in the fetal position.

These types of penalties happened all year, pretty much every game. Really, It was embarrassing that our players couldn't show more self control...

One could argue that Stoops changed his offensive philosophy due to pressure from fans who wanted more passing. He tried it, and it didn't work out for a myriad of reasons, and now those same fans are roasting him for the slippage. He certainly bears some responsibility, but the lack of perspective in wanting him fired is astonishing. sadly, what they don't realize is that they are likely making it more difficult to get an exceptional next coach.
Many fan bases are way worse than UK’s. They still can attract top end coaches. Several don’t pay their coach the way UK does. I doubt the next coach will make 9 million a year, but if they had the opportunity they would do it. 9 million is fifth in the SEC 3rd in the ACC, 3rd in the B1G. It isn’t like he’s making a few thousand more, he is making 1-5 million more. No UK doesn’t want most of those coaches but if they are paying close to 9 million they can attract a good coach

LMAO, you can't count vacated wins, moron. You play ineligible players, you lose those wins.

His actual record is 67 - 73 overall and 28 - 62.

It's not at all. IU was just in the playoffs for God's sake. It's certainly doable with a good coach.

Lol, so most of the conference has played in NY6 bowls under Stoops, but of course not UK. Hell, currently we are expected to get 4 wins, which is 2 away from a bowl, after missing it last year.

How many teams made the SEC Championship game, why can't UK?

Your entire argument is that he is good because we have won meaningless bowls games or beat cupcakes and down SEC programs, and since he had been here the longest, he has the most wins. Whoopty freaking do.

Nah, I actually had a ton of fun in the rich brooks years. Competing against top teams in the country and actually winning a couple was aawesome. Under Stoops we don't even compete in those games.

If being a waste of a program, not competing well against good teams, no discipline, lack of clock management, lack of leadership, regression and being at the bottom of the SEC are good for you, that's your prerogative, but just remember it's fans like you that are preventing us from ever being better.
Kinda weak throwing IU out there. They played two ranked teams. Lost both games. They play our schedule probably be about 7-4 6-5!!

Which was still better than we were at it. Big 10 is also a pretty good conference. The current NC came out of it. Granted, I get they don't all play each other, but still not an easy accomplishment for IU. However, we played several years in a down East and couldn't even make a conference championship.

We beat a ranked team. That was one more than IU.

I think n basketball assuming a final four is a but arrogant. The season and tourney are so random.

And we haven't went 10 and 2 n football since the 70s I assume. The 10 and 3 seasons of 2018 and 2021 might as well be decades ago with the on set of the NIL era. UK is performing pathetically n the keeping up with the Joneses part of this era

But against top flight programs they stunk. You would look down on UK if we loss to all the ranked teams we play. Just using IU to look up to is a bad take.
Lulz.

They lost 2 games against teams ranked higher than them that both went on to the NC game. They were literally supposed to lose those games. They lost to the eventual National Runner up by 10 and to Nat Champion OSU by 23.

They also beat Michigan, Nebraska and Washington which were all decent teams.

All with a 1st year HC.

Meanwhile, UK is 4 - 8 overall and 1 - 7 in the SEC. in Stoops 12th year, and we are projected as bad or worse going into his 13th.

So, Stoops only bears "some" of the responsibility for the outcome of the football games he's the head coach of? Like not the water freaking boy, but the head coach? You can't be this dumb. Newsflash: it's not the fans. The fans aren't the problem. But yeah, I remember you. You told me Scangerello was going to be awesome as OC. Lol. Yeah.

The only two ranked teams they played they loss. Not sold on IU being a great team. We loss to 4 teams ranked and beat one ranked above us. Your way of thinking the best IU would have done our schedule was 7-5. Nothing to hang your hat on.

Would of been a lot better than the 4 -8 record we produced.

They lost to two teams ranked above them that ended up being the best 2 teams in the country. IU didn't lose another game. All under a first year coach. Hell, even in the sec, IU going 7-5 with a brand new coach would be pretty good.

We lost to 5 unranked teams, and 8 teams overall, with 1 conference win and a losing 4-8 record. Comparing UK to IU or Stoops to Cignetti right now is laughable.

That's essentially my point. SEC teams that are historically top 15/20 are much more attractive jobs, so coaches will put up with more grief and pressure. He got market rate when he signed that contract, though he has underperformed relative to his 3 years previous to the signing. If he had averaged 8 wins the last 3 years, everyone would've been happy with that contract, but that's how life works sometimes. We all know the UK has to overpay a bit to attract the best coaches. We're kind of like an ugly guy who just got rich. He'll be able to pull some hot ladies, but he's spending a lot to make that happen, unlike Brad Pitt who could get the same level of women if he was broke.

So when UK wins 10 games it is against teams that are down they stink. But when IU wins games against teams that are down it is great. They play two ranked teams and loss them both. Funny how you think.

Were the teams IU lost to ranked higher and the betting favorite to win or no?

Were those teams the eventual NC and runner up?

If that was all that we lost to, I would say we did pretty good. Yet. In 2018, we lost to 2 unranked teams and then UGA.

2021 was vacated because we played ineligible players. So the whole season is irrelevant, but we still lost to unranked Tenn and Miss St.

So, yes, IU losing to no unranked teams and only losing to the eventual NC and runner up is better. I'm sorry if that bothers you.

This is definitely true. Had we stuck with physical football, we'd won no less than 8 games in any year and probably win 6 last year.

Ball control, physical football, and defense will win games until the end of time. Our fanbase got so used to winning, they got bored of how we're winning. That's crazy to think for uk football, but its true.

Looks like hes trying to get back to physicality. I hope we can.

Yes they lost to the only ranked teams they played. Just happens that those two beat out the top SEC teams and played for the championship. Yes they played a horrible schedule and beat them all. I don’t think they were a top 10 team but they had a heck of a year. Can they repeat it? Who knows but their schedule is still favorable. The only way anyone has your view on this is from hatred towards IU and the B1G.

I am not saying IU had a bad team but they didn’t beat one ranked team. Apples to oranges but if you took our ten win season and we playedIU schedule we would be very close to their record. But folks bad mouth our great seasons. We have some very negative folks.

We have a grass is always greener society, and I am not immune to that either, but sometimes we don't analyze the risk accurately. Stoops had us at our highest level ever, but we could all taste the chance to be in the upper echelon, but knew that probably wouldn't happen with our Iowa like system in the SEC. Stoops did what he probably felt he had to do and we all thought it looked like a great idea, but it didn't work out, so the same people clamoring for that move are calling for his job because it didn't work out. It's asinine. He did what I wanted him to do and it didn't work out, so you have a year to right the ship and another to confirm the new trend line and I'm satisfied. Imagine if every boss fired every employee who took an approved risk and failed, then there'd be diminished incentive to take risks moving forward.

You know, I double checked, but still couldn't find "context" and "nuance" in the box score or record for any games, oh wise one. It appears as though that's not anything anyone tracks or records.

I definitely agree marrow was responsible for the diva culture that developed the last few years. I think stoops made a decision after last season that was ending, and i think that's when vince started working on his move.

He basically quit on the job when you look at how many OH recruits we got. Coincidentally, it seemed our targets all ended at UL. Weird since that was months before he resigned and accepted his new position.
Played golf this week with big UK fan who has a nephew who is all-state at St. X. Kid's family is pro UL and that's where he is going next year. This guy told me when kid and family were on UK visit, Marrow told them he was going to UL and that the kid should follow him there. TIFWIW but I believe the story and am glad Vince is gone.

I dont doubt it at all. Especially given all the coincidences with our Ohio recruits.

Nothing is ever head guy's fault.
Always a scapegoat to blame once they leave.
Whether it's a coach or player(s).
Welp , here is My take …. I like Stoops but he also drives me insane.
Stoops publicly had griped for 3 years since NIL that he couldn’t coach like he used to. His time was taken up trying to raise NIL dollars. His Pony Up and other comments were in frustration that he wasn’t with the team as much as he wanted.
Vince was Assoc. Head Coach. For 3 years the culture had been falling apart under Vince as Stoops Fundraised.
That’s why Morrow is gone.
Barney has hired someone to manage and raise the money. Stoops should be back to coaching as much as he wants. Rev. Share makes NIL less priority.
It’s NIL that killed Stoops tenure The head coach should never have been the one to go out and raise money to pay players. Stoops was frustrated and flirted with A&M where it wasn’t the head coach’s job to raise money.
Our ADs reluctance to accept the NIL era put us way behind. Stoops knew he couldn’t compete without money to offer players. What was he supposed to do???
The Crafts and others had already cut Calipari off because of his attitude. Stoops knew he had to keep his big donors happy.

Not tuned in tight with recruiting. I am curious. Can anyone tell me which Ohio recruits were redirected to UL by VM?
One Ky guy was Strickland. He switched to UL. I really believe he wasn’t putting much effort in his job. I heard he married a UL gal and wanted to go there. Liked him why he was here but he left kinda dirty. UL worded things so he didn’t have a buyout. Don’t think he did a good job coaching our TEs.

Strickland is from Paducah, KY. Not Ohio.

Prospect: Jarvis Strickland
Position: Offensive Tackle
Measurables: 6-foot-6, 294 pounds
School: Paducah (Ky.) Tilghman

I have read several times about Ohio recruits leaving with him and am curious as to who they are and if they may be significant losses.

I stated he was from Ky just saying a recruit went from UK to UL. Early in recruiting we were always getting Ohio guys. Read between the lines VM was laying down on the job!!
