It's my understanding that the VH AD somehow double booked Richlands and I believe Graham games to be played on the same night by mistake. It was approved by the VHSL to reschedule this game to week 0, but I'm not sure why this game was on a Thursday night instead of Friday.

Because that’s how Richlands wanted it is my understanding, I personally would have made VH take a forfeit from one of the two schools on the date the AD double booked and not agreed to play week 0; call me petty. 😂

I thought VHSL first game date was Aug 25?
VHSL granted special permission to four schools out west - VA High, Richlands, Lord Botetourt and Rye Cove - to play in what can be deemed a 'Week Zero,' this week. Rye Cove and Botetourt square off at Emory & Henry on Saturday night, August 23rd. Hoping that game is streamed on NFHS Network so I can check it out.

It doesn’t look like it will be on NFHS Matt. I checked both LB and Rye Cove and the listings were for “upcoming games” starting next week.

Bummer. Heard Rye Cove was really solid for a bout a quarter and a half. Their size and physicality will give some teams fits at the Class 1 level.

Of course, Botetourt will be a tough out - as usual - in Class 3, Region D. Got a bit more passing sprinkled in to go with their normally rugged ground attack and effective blocking, albeit with a smaller group size wise than some of their recent towering linemen.

A 49-12 running clock win for Botetourt that was not as lopsided and probably showed some pluses for each side as they gear up for district play and the games ahead.

Little bit surprising for Class 1 Rye Cove if they can stay healthy with that performance. They actually moved the ball on LB in the first half before depth took over. Game was closer than score.
