Penn State has screwed up this coaching search about as bad as they possibly could have. They were one of the first schools to fire their coach, and they're the only Power 4 school that has yet to hire one. Hell, USF got their coach taken by Auburn and named Brian Hartline as their new coach within a couple of days. And that is probably a better hire than Penn State will make. This is what happens when you make an emotional firing with no plan in place.

Could they be courting Mullen?
Possible. Or Dabo because they aren't happy w/ him at Clemson, or DeBoer if he loses Saturday, or Heupel????, Sarkisian since they aren't extremely happy w/ him at TX, Dan Lanning @ OR, Brian Kelly???? I don't know I'm trying to think outside the box since it seems that's what they are doing or going to have to do......

I don't like Kelly but they could do worse - I'd just make it a contract easy to get out of.

He's probably their best option for now unless they think they could get Huepel or DeBoer. Worth waiting to find out at this point.

Penn State hasn’t done a thing wrong in the search. Jimmy Sexton has steered every possible coach away from them because he is bitter about how the treated Franklin. They crossed the most powerful man in the sport and now they are gonna feel his wrath.

I suspect they'll come out well.

24 decommits after Franklin was fired, who'd want to go there now? How could they screw this up worse? They now have 2 signed, the hard commit is no longer committed as he signed with West Virginia.

If Mullen was offered he would already be on the plane, it's not like he would have a ton of loyalty for a program he spent one season with. No way he could recruit his way out of this mess they put themselves in.

Well that's the comments from Penn state fans I'm seeing is that he recruits poorly but on field coaches is better than Franklin where Franklin recruited better.

honestly seems to be lebbys ordeal. Great recruiter. On field not so much good with xos and os and game decision. On field seems to not be his thing

Yea I feel bad for Sexton and Franklin 🙄, especially since Franklin waked away with $59M, poor guy.

Kelly seems like a great fit to me. PSU seems a lot closer to Notre Dame than LSU culture wise. The problem is whoever the new coach is, the AD needs to be able to explain that they threw away an entire high school class for this coaching search, and that they're going to be depending on big portal hauls the next few years and it may be up and down. Their new coach is going to have to consider how much eligibility transfers have because they are probably going to need to get a lot of transfers with three years of eligibility next year, then two years the next, to balance out their classes.

Is Lebby a great recruiter?

He’s made up some ground in this winter signing period but holy cow did he have to wait until December to show any kind of pulse?

Half this board wants that!
